Rozier round one: 18 ppg on 57 TS% Rozier round two: 19 ppg on 59 TS% Rozier round tre: 14 ppg on 49 TS%
wha' happen?
He's shooting worse from three (25% compared to 40ish%) He's taking less threes (45% of his shots compared to 57ish%) He's drawing way less fouls (13% FTA/FGA compared to 21 in round two and 32 in round three)
If you're a little guy and you have a bad defender on you, the moves are to get loose and take a three, because he can't stick with you, or go hard to the hoop and get fouled, because he can't stick with you.
George Hill in his prime was an elite defender.
George Hill is not in his prime anymore.
But he's still a solid defender.
If you're a little guy and you have a solid defender on you, the move is to pass, because you're good at assisting, and the point of assisting is you make it easier for your bros to score, and Rozier's ast:tov ratio has gone from excellent (a little above four in rounds one and two) to sublime (a little over five vs. the Cavs).
.
Scary Terry was born, therefore, from going against teams that don't have good defenders of the point guard.
In round one this was because the defender was just bad (Eric Bledsoe). In round two this was because the defender was just too darn big (Ben Simmons or Shu Covington).

eric it's time to sell high on rozier, right? he won't he get big minutes with kyrie and irving back next year, and he'll be a free agent. phoenix needs a pg and has a ton of young guys, why not move the 16th pick for him?

eric it's time to sell high on rozier, right? he won't he get big minutes with kyrie and irving back next year, and he'll be a free agent. phoenix needs a pg and has a ton of young guys, why not move the 16th pick for him? the guy has drew bledsoe shouting him out. you can't buy that kind of publicity (you can probably buy that kind of publicity) but kyrie's coming off his third surgery on his left knee. none of them have involved ligaments (as far as we know) but the second surgery was supposed to have a six week recovery, then turned out to require another surgery and have him out five months. these are probably the same crackerjack surgeons that ruined isaiah thomas' career. and he's on an expiring deal. and he won't sign an extension, so he probably wants a super max. maybe keeping a solid but unspectacular point guard around on a team with a surfeit of ball handling on the wings is a real solid insurance policy. maybe you're danny ainge and you know your draft record isn't quite all it's cracked up to be when colangelo isn't fultzing around with the 1.1 pick. (take a bow, Guerschon Yabusele, R.J. Hunter, and James Young.) if san antonio calls up and offers kawhi for terry, sure, pull the trigger. for a mid first? i wouldn't.
