I am jealous of all the teams that will have space, this has the potential to be the greatest FA class in 4.0 or 5.0. Obviously, not all players will hit the market and won't be able to make what I think they're worth, but there should be plenty of talent out there for teams to upgrade their situation. I decided to do tiers like the draft preview rather than listing 1-30.
C 25 6'10'' 230 A C+ B B+ B- B
-He's a 25-year-old averaging 39.5 PPG on 54% shooting, 10.1 RPG, 1.9 SPG and 1.2 BPG. He’s about to get the people’s vote for MVP. He should turn any non-wasteland team into an instant title contender.
Side note, Eric get this man some help, being 23-13 in the East with what should be the runaway MVP is a disgrace.
Colin Sexton
PG 21 6'2'' 205 B+ A- B+ A C+ C
-We all know that Sexton only started with 60 potential and he is having his worst shooting season (FG% has gotten worse each season). But you’ve got to max him if you have the space, if nothing else just to fuck over Ian.
Cam Reddish
SF 21 6'8'' 220 A- A- C+ B C+ B
-Top wing scorer in the league at only 21 years old, he also rebounds well and plays good defense. You’ve got to max him, he deserves the chance to compete for something greater than the eighth seed.
Peyton Gragg
PF 24 6'7'' 210 A- B+ C+ B B A
-Gragg’s only 24, one of the best PFs in the league and probably the best two-way PF. He doesn’t have any flaws. He’s absolutely worth a max based on his play and with the added bonus of a potential Billy meltdown.
Simisola Shittu
C 20 6'10'' 230 A- C- D+ B A- A
-Doesn’t get nearly enough attention around the league. 20 PPG on 48.8% shooting with 12.2 RPG and 3.4 bleals is incredible for a 20-year-old in 5.0. It’s very likely that Odin started him with 100 potential, he probably ends up being one those bigs that is in top 3 in shot blocking and rebounding every year. He needs to improve his free throw percentage of 68.1%, and has +19 left to get it done.
Benji Wilson
SF 26 6'8'' 215 B- A C+ A- C+ B
-Wilson was looking pretty busty that first year but has really come on the last two years to become one of the better wings in the league. This year he’s averaging 26.1 PPG on shooting splits of 45.7/76/44.5. Biggest thing is he’s still just 26 and has all of his upgrades available. There is a 50/50 chance Shaun doesn’t remember to send in bids, he's probably the player on this list most likely to switch teams.
PF 20 6'7'' 280 A- C+ C B B+ A
-Zion’s going to get a max deal since he’s only 20, and definitely worth it because of his two-way ability. I just couldn’t put him in the class of the players listed above him with those turnovers, his upgrades being maxed out and his scoring average is likely inflated because of his teammates.
Whoever gets or keeps him should be thrilled.
Stephon Templeton
C 29 6'11'' 265 A C+ C- A- C+ C
-Templeton’s max is going to start at 17.5, I’m not sure that every team will be willing to pay that much to a 30 year old big that isn’t an elite rebounder or defender, (good news is he has all of his upgrades left). But if you’re playoff team that has the space I think you do it just to put your team over the top while chasing a title.
Bobby McDermott
PG 28 6'0'' 190 B+ A B+ C+ C- B
-I will be maxing him because I need to keep him in order to keep my team in contention. Like with Templeton, I’m not sure if other teams will max him because of his age and since the max will start at 17.5 mil. I think teams should definitely offer him a max if they’re a piece or two away from contending but if a team is at the bottom of the standings and didn’t pick in the top 5, they may want to use the space on one of the many younger players in this FA class.
Mo Bamba
C 22 6'11'' 230 A- C+ C- A B+ A
-Bamba is similar to Zion in that he just isn’t in the same class as the players in the first tier. I like him a lot though, he reminds of a young PYT. Bamba's field goal percentage has improved each year and his blocks have grown by .5 each season. Even though he's maxed out on upgrades, he should continue improving to become one of the better bigs in the league.
Trendon Watford SF 19 6'10'' 220 B B- C- C+ B- A
-Watford is quietly one of the best young players in the league, he’s 19 and putting up 24 PPG on 47.3% shooting, averaging 7 RPG and only 1.3 turnovers. He doesn’t provide much defense or shoot threes well yet, but he still has +15 left. I think he becomes one of the better SFs in the league within a few seasons and definitely deserves a max contract.
-Shareef kind of reminds of his uncle Jermaine from back in 4.0, where he had a slow start, then began to turn into one of the better bigs in the league by years 3 and 4. Shareef is currently averaging 14.5 PPG on 49.8% shooting, the 8.6 RPG and 1.7 bleals are pretty good for a young big. O’Neal has all of his upgrades left and the potential to become one of the better bigs in the league. I feel like he’s worth a 6-year deal worth anywhere from 8 mil to 12.5 flat max if a GM plans to use his +25 right away.
Chris Chiozza
PG 25 6'0'' 165 B- B A B+ C C
-Chiozza is only 25 years old with really nice grades, and just made the all-star game. He has good handles with only 2.3 TPG, is averaging 20 PPG on albeit poor shooting percentages, but fortunately has all of his upgrades left. Because of the state of PGs in early 5.0 I wouldn’t blame anyone for maxing Chiozza, but I think he’s more deserving of 8 -10 mil a year deal over 5 or 6 years.
Bones McKinney
SF 26 6'8'' 210 C+ B+ C+ B+ C+ B
-McKinney is one of those players that isn’t elite at anything but does everything well (except maybe rebounding). I love the .8 BPG and that he’s SG eligible. He’s only 26 and still has all of his upgrades left, he could be one those players that becomes a star if a GM maxes out his inside. Probably worth a 4 or 5 year deal worth 8 or 9 mil a year.
Mountain Dew Camacho
PF 27 6'11'' 275 B C D+ B- A- C
-Camacho is putting up good numbers as a third big for the Timberwolves, averaging 12 PPG, 8.7 RPG, 1 SPG and .5 BPG in 25.7 MPG. He’s only 27 years old and has all of his upgrades left. He should command something in the 4 to 5 year range worth 8 to 10 mil a year.
Grayson Allen
SG 25 6'4'' 195 B- A- C+ B D+ A
-This fucking guy….. Allen needs some upgrades (has +25 left) put into his handles to cut down on the 3.3 TPG, but he’s a good scorer and shooter, averaging 26.3 PPG on shooting splits of 47/81;5/44.3. I don’t think he’s max worthy because of the turnover issues, and his lack of rebounding/defense, but he probably deserves a 4 or 5 year deal worth 7-9 mil a year if a GM intends to put a lot of points into him.
Elle Okobo
PG 23 6'3'' 185 C+ A- A- C+ D+ B
-I have no idea why nobody had traded for this guy yet, especially with the lack of truly elite PGs in the league. Yes, he doesn’t shoot that well (44.3/80.5/35.5) but he can score with good volume (26.4 PPG), doesn’t pass much (5.9 APG) and doesn't turn it over (1.9 TPG). He also has all of his upgrades, that could easily turn him into a top 10 PG. I think that’s worth the risk of giving him a long term worth more than 7 or 8 mil a year.
Malik Newman
SG 23 6'3'' 178 C A- C B C B
-Good looking 23 year old combo guard that I suspect Heebs is trying to hide if he doesn’t intend to extend his MLE, smh classic Heebs. Newman’s a good shooter and scorer, averaging close to 21 PPG per 36. And an impressive .8 SPG in only 12 MPG. He does have all of his upgrades left but because he’s still at C handles, he’s probably never going to get to B+ unless a team puts all 25 into his passing. Will be a good option for teams looking for a starting SG or third guard. If he’s going to be your staring SG, he probably deserves a long term deal worth more than 8 mil a year, if he’s only a third guard than he probably deserves 3 year deal worth 5 -6 mil a year.
Marques Bolden
C 21 6'11'' 245 C D- D+ B C+ C
-21-year-old D/R big blocking 2.8 shots a game in only 27 MPG and has all of his upgrades left to be used on his rebounding, jumper and steals. Sadly he probably won’t hit the open market since Pete can extend his MLE.
Luka Doncic
SG 21 6'9'' 235 B B+ B+ C+ C B
-Don’t believe Taco’s display name of Luka Doncic=Pricey Dumpster, it’s just another example of a GM trying to kill a player’s bargaining power in a contract year, really classy Taco. Doncic hasn’t lived up to being taken in the top 10 in the creation draft, but similar to RJ Barrett he’s come around and could be decent-good starter. He’s averaging 20 PPG on not terrible percentages, he just needs some points put into his jumper, inside and handles. And what do you know, he has +25 left. You’re welcome to whichever GM signs him to a deal similar to KBD.
Kevin Knox
PF 21 6'10'' 225 B+ B- C- B- B- A
-I’ve always like Knox and think he’s a good young prospect that gets overshadowed by the big duo of the Couv. He blocks a decent number of shots for 5.0 wing, doesn’t turn it over much and still has +10 left. His scoring numbers are down a bit this year because Druce has been trying different SFs, but there are tools to work with on offense. He’s the type of player that you should try to get bird rights on in case he blows up in TC.
Ed Mikan
C 29 6'10'' 240 B+ C D A- B- C
-Not a big scorer and about to be 30 years old, but he doesn’t do anything poorly and has all of his upgrades left. Would be a great third big and nice piece for as a fifth option on a contending team. He probably deserves a 3 year deal worth around 5 or 6 mil a season.
Romeo Langford
SG 20 6'6'' 205 A- A- B+ C- C B
-Ehhhhh, I wanted to include 30 players on this list and somebody had to get the last spot. Good news is Langord is only 20, the bad news is his shooting/scoring has gotten worse each year, he plays little defense, has issues with turnovers and is maxed out on upgrades, I think he’s worth a 3 year deal worth 3 or 4 mil a year, just in case he turns it around with a couple kind TCs.
C 30 6'11'' 260 A- C- D+ B- B C
-One of the better shot blockers in the league, that rebounds well and a better scorer than his averages show. Problem is, he’s about to be 31. He'd be a nice piece to add to put a team over the top and bump them into contention. Will probably get deal similar to what Ian gave Leonard Leslie a couple years ago.
Benji Hammon
PG 32 5'11'' 170 B+ A B C D+ C
-One of the best scoring PGs in the league, about to be 33 (Germany eligible) and will probably command anywhere from a one year max to a three year deal worth 40-50 mil total. Hammon’s the type of player you go after if you’re only a piece away or looking to jump from playoff contender to title contender.
Stan Haynes C 33 6'10'' 290 A C B+ C+ B+ C
-Very good scoring big that doesn’t rebound or defend at a high level and about to be 34. Will probably get overpaid by Eric in order to retain, should probably finish his career on rental deals worth 8-10 mil a year.
Leonard Leslie
C 33 7'0'' 210 B+ C+ D B B D
-Same age as Haynes and same caliber of rebounder, not as good a scorer, but much better defender. Deserving of a little better deal than Haynes worth 10-12 mil a year.
Kevin Nash
PF 32 6'10'' 285 B- C- C- B B D
-Nash is putting up good numbers with starter’s minutes this season, he’s averaging 12.5 PPG, 10 RPG, 1 SPG and 1.4 BPG. He will be 33 which will likely keep him from getting a long term deal, but should get a deal close to what Leslie and Haynes get.
Quincy McCall
PG 31 6'4'' 205 B C A+ C+ C B
-McCall’s a solid 31-year-old floor general type of PG that doesn’t even attempt threes (good for him knowing his limitations). McCall would be good to have as your fifth option or as your staring PG if you’re running an inside focused offense similar to the Knicks. He should probably get a 1 or 2 year deal worth around 6-8 mil.
Ulakees Galmuseeth
PG 32 6'0'' 180 C C A- A- D+ C
