For Creation Draft players, if you modified their contract to three years (whether you extended or shortened it), you have the ability to cut the third year off of said contract. If a player had, for example, a 5-year contract and you did not shorten it, you are unable to cut any years off of their deal.
For Non-Creation Draft first-rounders (i.e. those taken in the rookie draft) you can decline their third- and fourth-year options.
Please post in this thread if you'd like to cut years off of someone's deal.
This must be done prior to MIDNIGHT CENTRAL TIME of Free Agency Day 1.
