Welcome to the 2nd annual edition of the Team Efficiency Ratings. Better late than never I always say. And for those fans of simple statistical analysis, do I ever have the article for you.

The formula the NBA uses for their Efficiency Rating is very simple:
Points + Rebounds + Assists + Steals + Blocks - Turnovers - Field Goals Missed - Free Throws Missed
Here we go
Quick Analysis: Not only are the Clippers leading the Pacific and the Western Conference, their talented squad is crushing it offensively to lead the Team EFF rankings with the only score over 160. Vancouver's dynamic duo of Templeton and Mikan are back at this season carrying the Grizzlies to the only other score over 155 as they keep their team in the hunt for the top spot in the West. The Globetrotters represent the best of the East and round out the top 3 Team EFF rankings as the 3rd or only 6 teams with a Team EFF rating over 150. The others being the defending champion New York Knicks, Minnesota's Timberwolves and the Houston Rockets respectively.
Team EFF
162.6 Clippers
156.3 Grizzlies
152.8 Globetrotters
151.8 Knicks
150.5 Timberwolves
150.1 Rockets
148.2 Pacers
145.3 Spurs
142.1 Hawks
138.6 Pistons
137.6 Mavericks
136.6 Kings
136.2 Magic
135.1 Trailblazers
134.9 Bucks
131.1 Suns
130.9 SuperSonics
129.0 Lakers
128.6 Bulls
128.1 Jazz
126.1 Celtics
125.7 Wizards
122.0 Cavaliers
121.7 Heat
121.5 Raptors
121.5 Warriors
117.6 Hornets
117.3 Nuggets
115.7 Bullets
Quick Analysis: As the Wild Wild West rules the EFF ranks, the East takes the cake on the defensive end. The Celts and Wiz are holding strong as the only 2 squads sub 125, a far cry from Ian's 00 Twolves who finished with a low of 102.7. With more talent pouring into the league will we ever see that low of a score again? Unlikely. The Pacers round out this all East top 3, and if we stretch it to 7 representing all squads under 130, only MJ's Spurs claim a spot from the West. No teams make it into the top 5 of both ratings thus far, tho the Globetrotters and Knicks were closest with a 3rd & 4th and a 6th & 7th respectively. Will they lead the all encompassing +/-?
Team oEFF
123.6 Celtics
124.1 Wizards
127.0 Pacers
127.4 Bullets
127.9 Spurs
128.5 Globetrotters
129.6 Knicks
130.6 Hawks
131.8 Clippers
132.3 Grizzlies
132.5 Trailblazers
132.5 Bucks
133.0 Timberwolves
133.3 Nuggets
134.0 Mavericks
135.5 SuperSonics
135.8 Rockets
136.2 Warriors
137.5 Heat
137.5 Kings
138.9 Lakers
139.9 Pistons
140.2 Cavaliers
141.6 Magic
142.0 Bulls
142.7 Raptors
144.9 Jazz
145.2 Hornets
145.9 Suns
Quick Analysis: No they won't as the Clips are the only with a squad +30 or better. The Globetrotters are close but not close enough as they fall 6 full points behind. The Grizz, Knicks and Pacers round out the top 5 and are the only squads +20 or better. They also seem to be the only real 5 contenders this year. Though a team like the Spurs have a chance with that defense stud vets Boudeaux and Diaz. And I could see the TWolves too purely because of Sexton but that's about it. Wonder if Eric's Championship odds agree?
Team +/-
30.8 Clippers
