Pre-Season
Overall this class looks like butt so far... and they only get 1 year to develop, so I'd expect that only 2-3 are actually going to make an impact on a winning team. Even finding honorable mentions was a stretch.1. Mfiondu Kabengele - Chicago Bulls
Looks like a pretty great player... except for YIKES... those TOs are baaaaaaaaaad. Tied for 1st in blocks, 2nd in stocks, 1st in scoring, 1st in rebounding, and 3rd in P/TSA. If it weren't for the TOs he'd basically be perfect. Because of those TOs... his hold on the top spot is tenuous... but there needs to be a real challenger stepping up (I'm not sure there is one at this moment)
2. Chuma Okeke - Atlanta Hawks
2nd in rebounding, efficient enough (especially compared to the rest of this class, which is not efficient as a whole) and a defensive maven already, Okeke lands at #2 for now.
3a. Luguentz Dort - Orlando Magic
3b. Tyler Herro - Vancouver Grizzlies
Not deserving of a Top 3 spot in almost any other class, but both of these guys have showed more scoring punch than expected for rookie SGs. 4th and 5th in P/TSA and 3rd and 4th in total scoring. Dort gets the nod ahead of Herro because he looks like a superior rebounder from the wing.
5. Brandon Clarke - Dallas Mavericks
Defensive stopper and not much else right now. 1st in blocks and stocks, not an efficient scorer. On offense the only good thing he does is not turn it over.
6. Ja Morant - Anaheim Amigos
I fully expect him to get better by next year, but he is a poor shooter at all 3 levels right now... luckily that can increase for a PG. Doesn't have a TO issue, which is wonderful. Software awards will love him.
7a. Nickeil Alexander-Walker - Los Angeles Lakers
7b. Rayjon Tucker - Grand Rapids Drive
Really scraping the bottom of the barrel here, but both of these were very efficient (relatively) in the PS and they get this spot for now. Nick A-W is 1st in P/TSA, you can call him Ray, or you can call him Jon, or you can call him Rayjon is 6th in the same category. Tucker looks like a strong defender as well, as he's tied for 2nd among all rookies in steals.
Honorable Mentions:
Points:
Ty Jerome - Phoenix Suns
Coby White - Anaheim Amigos
Wings:
Talen Horton-Tucker - Syracuse Nationals
Bigs:
Jarrell Brantley - Charlotte Hornets
