Following a heartbreaking rout in game 7 of their round 1 series against the #1 seed Bobcats, Stags' GM Troy Barnes is taking a glass half full approach to things. I caught up with him to get a reaction on his squad being bounced after shocking the world by taking an early lead of 3-1 in the series. In a lengthy text, Barnes said "Listen guys, we were playing with house money. Everybody knows that Charlotte just flat out was the better team this year, Odin has built a hell of an organization over there in Charlotte. But we won 3 games in our first playoff appearance and I think that's going to provide valuable experience to some of our guys, especially Ricky (Rubio). I'm proud of my guys leaving it all out there on the court. James (Worthy) has provided great leadership to our younger guys and we hope that he'll stick around for a few more years so we can get him a ring. We are going to look to add 1-2 high caliber pieces this offseason to help those guys out in 2045 and I think we can start making some deeper runs. For all our fans out there that are disappointed, just know that we're still a franchise on the rise and I fully intend to bring a championship back home to Chicago that doesn't have a B*lls logo on it. #StagsSquad4Lyfe". Undeterred by a sub .500 regular season record and an implosion in the playoffs, you have to wonder if Barnes knows something we don't or is just a relentless optimist. Time will tell.
