Joe Barry Carroll C 7'0" 229 22 Purdue
Carroll is here to boil some makes... or make some boils? Who wants more boils? He's a fast, agile big man who has racked up a boat-load of blocked shots in West Lafayette. The blocked shots are indicative of a size advantage and risk-taking behavior, not play-to-play defensive strength, though. He commits a lot of fouls and often loses his assignment as he's chasing the turnover or rejection. Because of that he is an incredibly disappointing rebounder, not even getting to double-digit boards his senior year, despite playing 35+ minutes a game. On offense he's decent right around the rim, given his hops and height he is rarely blocked and can usually kiss it off glass with a high-arching hook. That said, that's about all he can do for your offense. He's not a willing passer and he isn't one who will shoot a jumper, never a 3... and his free throw performance is... scary.
