Charlotte Bobcats
12-3 (1st East)
SRS: 19.7 Fracs: .409
Reactions: Purvis Short is terrific, good at all facets of the game and shoting a few ticks under 50% from the floor. Short paried with future HOF Joel Embiid is a awesome offensive combo but this team's strength is it's D. Once again anchored on defense by 4x DPOY Clint Capela and point man Rajon Rondo, I see the Bobcats in the ECF again, at least.
Prediction: Capela unseated as DPOY
Washington Bullets
9-9 (2nd East) SRS: -2.4
Fracs: .000
Reactions: This team is led by... Ummm... Bobby Cattage? Maybe? I suppose this is DC related, or lack there of. Either way kn is really lacking all over and Aaron Gordon is just wasting away on the bench, a high TO player but still a great scoring forward. Not sure where this team is headed, Stackhouse hasn't really developed mostly due to a lack of upgrades. Maybe Russell will turn into something, most likely not unless the lab usage changes. I see this team near the bottom of the standings soon.
Prediction: Bullets just barely hit their 31.5 W over
Atlanta Hawks
12-5 (3rd East)SRS: 16.9
Fracs: .106
Reactions:
Rough start to the season losing Butch Lee for 92 days. But he will return for the post season so not all hope is lost. Billy Ray Bates will be filling in along side Darnell Valentine, unless jhb can make a deal to find a season long replacement. KG, Dantley and Hibbert will have to carry the reigns but I don't think it will be enough to stay in the top 4 all year. I see the Hawks in the 5 or 6 seed.
Prediction: Dark horse to represent the East in the TMBSL Finals.
Orlando Magic
9-3 (5th East) SRS: 11.8
Fracs: .001
Reactions: DeAndre Jordan will finally unseat Clint Capela as DPOTY. Sheldon Williams was a real steal in FA signing for the lle. Darko Milicic shooting 50% from 3 pt land is a pipe dream for a full season, probably settles in closer to 40%. Austin Carr is starting to fizzle out, offensive efficiency declining. FVV being unleased this year, currently at 26.6 PPG up 7+ from last year. Damion Lee's career was wasted - coulda been something if he got upgrades. Potential Glue Guy of the year IMO.
Prediction: Magic finish as the 3 seed in the East, make ECF
Charlotte Hornets
9-5 (6th East)SRS: 12.2
Fracs: .002
Reactions: Dennis Johnson certainly appears to be chasing his 2 MVP honors. Lou Williams is the 3rd best player from the '40 draft and will make the HOF, wish I had taken him. Muzunga. Theus also a great wing in today's TMBSL, fecta may have an eye for these guys. This team is great outside but has some giant holes in the paint. Blocking less than 4 shots per game, juset turrible. I think this team will get abused by a good C/PF combo with defensive stoppers at the wings and point. If they meet the Bobcats for instance - Joel would have a helluva series and DJ would have to really carry this squad to win a 7 game series.
Prediction: DJ for MVP
Miami Heat
8-6 (7th East)SRS: 0.5
Fracs: .000
Reactions: More like the Meh-ami Heat, Danny Ainge is the only real bright spot, Malone looks meh but I admit it's still early. Siakam is probably the most meh 1.1 in TMBSL 5.0. Ben Simmons is a very meh PG, scoring has gone up but hardly any bleals and 2+ TOpg - no thanks.
Predictions: Danny Ainge will finish top 3 on the Sophmore Ladder
Harlem Globetrotters
6-9 (8th East)SRS: 13.1
Fracs: .008
Reactions: Very mediocre start for Ward's mighty Globes. KAT still looks great, TOs aren't but the rest is. TOs as a whole are a bit higher than I would expect with a Ward run team honestly. Alex English looked like a great pick up at the time but he seems to have had some significant regression. As with Ibaka, not sure he's turned into quite the player people expected after some early sucess. Magic Johnson is still a top PG in this league and there is a lot of season left. But idk, I'm bit nervous for wee2dee, I think he may need to shake it up with a big move.
Predictions: Globes fail to finish in the top 4 in the East this season
Detroit Pistons
5-8 (9th East)SRS: 1.5
Fracs: .000
Reactions: Dr J and Terry Cummings are a nice 1 - 2 punch, but you gotta be able to throw more than 2 punches Mike. Felton wouldn't be a bad PG if it weren't for the 3.1 TOpg. Outside of that the cuppard is bare, I don't see anyone else even worth mentioning. I guess maybe Oden but he looks like he's just cashing in one more check before he retires.
Predictions: Terry Cummings and Greg Oden both retire
Chicago Stags
5-10 (13th East)SRS: -4.6
Fracs: .000
Reactions: troybarnes is still getting his TMBSL feet wet but he's not doing too bad. Willie Cauley-Stein will be good as long as he gets his +30. Turiaf is also a nice young piece, need to get him locked up and also +30. Hield seems to have flamed out, tat contract may need to go before Rookie FA begins. Elston Turner doesn't looks like much, should get him to the minors and see if he can grow a little. Keep adding pieces, upgrading your promising youth and listening to Logan and you'll be competing in no time.
Predictions: Stags become the more beloved Chicago franchise by seasons end, if not already there
