2039 was a simpler time, no? The Tri-cities Blackhawks, run by the infamous Billy King, had yet to win a title though the roster was pretty solid. They won 55 games with Joel Embiid, Alex English, and Adrian Dantley, among others. However, they were still looking for a star point guard. Then came the year 2040.
The Blackhawks started the 2040 season in much the same way they had started any season for the last half decade: good, but would still inevitably fall short of Billy King's first title. 60 days into the season that would change as they sent the 3rd pick in the 2041 draft, which would later be used to select one Kristaps Porzingis aka Zinger aka Krispy Pork, for star point guard Tyler Ennis who had recently told Portland Trailblazers GM, Majic, to go fuck himself. This move would go down as one of Billy King's best decisions throughout his "illustrious" career in TMBSL. The rest of the regular season went about the same as the 2040 season, however the playoffs were a different story. First they took down the robo-Nuggets, something GMOdin Logan has struggled to do many times, in an easy sweep. They then had to face the over-performing Vancouver Grizzlies, whom they took down in a 6 game series. In the Conference Finals they managed another sweep versus the Dallas Mavericks and 4.0 Knicks legend Butch Lee. There were arguments about whether Lee or Ennis was better, and I think we all know it's Lee, but Ennis and the Blackhawks came out on top. This came just three days after best-player-in-the-league, Lebron James, went down in the East finals against the Atlanta Hawks. Miraculously, the Chicago Bulls still managed to win this series. So there we were, Blackhawks versus Bulls without Lebron. The series went exactly how you would think, the Blackhawks won in six games giving Billy King his first title*. Despite the incredible, almost Fecta-tier, luck there's nothing anyone can do to take this title away from BK and the Blackhawks.
Now that BK has won a title you would expect him to continue competing for rings with this core, but that's not what happened. Let's now take a closer look at what went down:
Firstly, in an unprecedented move, Billy King decided the Tri-cities Blackhawks would become his minor league team while the Anaheim Amigos, his former minor league team, would become the major league team. This shocked many, many of those who don't pay attention that is. One Rock Island, Illinois native was quoted as saying "I didn't even realize we had a team but this seems like a strange move with them having just won a title." And ladies and gentlemen, the moves only get stranger from there.
During the 2041 season the Amigos won one (1) more game than the Blackhawks did the previous season, so it was actually looking like the relocation to the west coast was a smart move. Though the Amigos managed to take down the Seattle SuperSonics in the first round of the 2041 playoffs, they went out an embarrassed themselves against the San Antonio Spurs and their .004 fracs.
Apparently, this was all Billy King needed to say "fuck it, this isn't working!". In the coming days there would be many changes to the Amigos roster. Now we will take a look at these moves:
First up trade Trade 715: Both starting Amigos wings, Adrian Dantley and Alex English were moved to the Atlanta Hawks for Bill Cartwright, the 5th pick in the 2046 draft aka the last one before rookie FA, three 2nd round picks (44 2.13, 45 2.10, 46 2.5), and 20k timdollars. Billy King's motives here were unclear but the trade itself isn't that bad. This reporter considers Dantley to be incredibly overpaid and while English is appropriately paid he is a D/R wing without the R.
Next we have 716: Tyler Ennis, theBlackhawks Amigos star point guard and literal savior, was sent to Vancouver for Larry Wright, something called a Fucking Korkmaz, and the 11th pick in the 2044 draft. Keep in mind, this is just two seasons after Ennis was acquired for the 3rd pick in the 2041 draft.
Trade 717: Joel Embiid, long time Billy King supporter, was traded to the Charlotte Bobcats for Dominique Wilkins and 20k pigpennies. Wilkins finished the 2041 season leading the league in scoring by a considerable margin but as one GM who will go unnamed put it "no dude nique is shit. you literally lost to the hawks because he came back.".
Trade 718: Amigos trade Dominique Wilkins to the Spurs for Dan Issel. Straight up. No frills, just a one player for one player swap. Keep in mind, this is the same Dominique Wilkins who had just led the league in scoring and the same Dan Issel who was traded to the Spurs from the Dallas Mavericks for expiring contracts.
Trade 719: Artis Gilmore for to the Harlem Globetrotters for 11th pick of the second round in the 2044 draft. Gilmore had recently been claimed off of waivers for a comically low offer despite his very solid D/R big production.
Trade 725: Once again Billy King and Spurs GM pointyegg team up for a trade. This time the Amigos would send starting PF, and former Miami Hawt, Clemon Johnson for the expiring contract of Mario Chalmers who, despite popular reports, is not the same player as Mario Hezonja.
Trade 726: Once again Billy King and Spurs GM pointyegg team up for a trade. This time the Amigos would send starting PF, and former Miami Hawt, Clemon Johnson for the expiring contract of Mario Chalmers who, despite popular reports, is not the same player as Mario Hezonja, along with 10k Tim$ and 2043 2.18.
So, just one year after winning his first title, Tri-cities Blackhawks GM Billy King relocated his team and traded his entire starting lineup for the following:
Bill Cartwright
Dan Issel
Larry Wright
Furkan Korkmaz
Mario Chalmers
2044 1.11
2046 1.5
2043 2.18
2044 2.13
2045 2.10
2046 2.5
50k bullrupees
Things certainly are different in Anaheim now, but what's next for them you may be asking yourself? Well, that's a question only sundersprites can answer.
