Pre-Season:
So... cumulative stats and P/TSA and PER and all that jazz didn't load for the Pre-Season. This means Delap is doing a little extra work and eye-balling the rosters to find the rookies I think stand out (in a good way). Sorry that it would be as sexy as normal, but we are here for you either way. #s 6 all the way through the HMs are all worthwhile players and we look to have a much deeper ladder than last year, so stay tuned for excitement every 4 days.
1. Mario Hezonja - Seattle SuperSonics Elite scoring output for a rookie, especially a non-big. Super Mario's ability to play SG and the rarity of efficient/good rookie wings lands him at the top spot heading into the season.
2. Karl-Anthony Towns - Harlem Globetrotters The top spot will be a battle between Hezonja and KAT all season... but KAT can get a super-charged boost from his *hidden gem* status. Scoring, rebounding, and efficiency are all major strengths. His defensive metrics don't look inspiring, though.
3. Myles Turner - Phoenix Suns Despite a poor TC, Turner shows some solid scoring volume and the best shot blocking in the class. His high FT% is great, so once his strength and inside catch up he should be just fine.
4. Montrezl Harrell - Dallas Mavericks 3rd in the class in scoring volume (.1 behind KAT) and decently efficient. Like KAT, he is a known *hidden gem* and a potential +40 on his rookie deal will push him up the list.
5. Jahlil Okafor - Chicago Bulls Decent, but not elite numbers across the board... except for TOs, which are VERY elite for a rookie.
6. Justise Winslow - Sacramento Kings Volume good for a rookie wing. Doesn't have any major red flags.
7. Willy Hernangomez - Washington Bullets Low TOs and some really solid volume, outshines his fellow 1st rounder in DC.
8. Tyus Jones - Miami Floridians Miniscule TOs from the PG position, not terrible shooting. I like the cut of his jib.
Honorable Mentions:
Points: TJ McConnell - Pittsburgh Condors Emmanuel Mudiay - Chicago Bulls
Wings: D'Angelo Russell - Washington Bullets
Bigs: Kristaps Porzingis - Phoenix Suns Dakari Johnson - Virginia Squires

Booker was considered... and probably should be an HM really... but let's see that volume get up a tad. %s were real nice.

Day 40Finally! A rookie class with some real competition for the ladder, for the spots in the ladder, and even the Honorable Mention section. I expect much consternation about placement, who is on the list and who isn't, etc. I honestly don't even feel super solid about the end of the ladder about who should be there and who shouldn't 1. Karl-Anthony Towns - Harlem Globetrotters (previous: 2)Even as a huge fan of Turner, Hezonja, and Harrell... this is the easiest pick of the entire list. 2nd in scoring, 1st in rebounding, and PER. 5th in P/TSA, good stocks/bleals, and TOs aren't a deal-breaker. 2. Mario Hezonja - Seattle SuperSonics (previous: 1)Great efficiency from the wing, low TOs, good rebounds... positional scarcity boosts him to #2 on the ladder. Volume is lagging behind the other elite elite of the class, needs more Lab work to keep up across the season. 3. Montrezl Harrell - Pittsburgh Condors (previous: 4)1st in scoring, 2nd in PER. A decent rebounder for a rookie. He has a little more in upgrades, but those will have to wait until next year. TOs are low, which boosts him over the next player on the list. 4. Myles Turner - Phoenix Suns (previous: 3)A little worse at scoring, but better at everything else than Harrell, Turner has a huge upside. But... 3.4 TOs per 36 is gross, especially for a big. Get a hold of your handles and you could be competing for the #1 spot. 5. Jahlil Okafor - Chicago Zephyrs (previous: 5)Narrowly edging out #6 here, Okafor just really needs to improve his FT%. The rest of the package is really good. 6. Kristaps Porzingis - Phoenix Suns (previous: HM)Everything is sexy about the Zinger... except his scoring volume. He needs to get pumped up in jumping/strength/inside and he could be a really really good player. His %s are great. 7. Justin Anderson - Maine RedClaws (previous: NR)Looks like a defensive stopper early... but also with fantastic %s, could be quite a player. Currently 2nd in P/TSA among all rookies. 8. Devin Booker - Sacramento Kings (previous: NR)Edging out about 5-6 other players for the last spot, Booker gets here by virtue of leading all rookies in P/TSA and a shockingly low TO rate. Needs to get those shots up, though. Honorable Mentions:
Points: Emmanuel Mudiay - Chicago Bulls Tyus Jones - Miami Floridians Andrew Harrison - San Antonio Spurs
Wings: D'Angelo Russell - Washington Bullets Cedi Osman - Cleveland Cavaliers Norman Powell - Spirits of St. Louis Justise Winslow - Sacramento Kings
Bigs: Trey Lyles - Spirits of St. Louis Willy Hernangomez - Washington Bullets

Day 80 UpdateAgain... real competition for the spots on the ladder. My first cut had 12 players I thought were ladder-worthy... that means four guys got left off that would likely be on there in any other season... so sorry to the following players, in order: Mr. Mudiay, Mr. Winslow, Mr. Russell, and Mr. Booker. 1. Karl-Anthony Towns - Harlem Globetrotters (previous: 1)Easy pick. 1st in PER, P/TSA. 2nd in scoring volume (while playing with other very good players/scorers, to boot). 1st in rebounding and 2nd in blocks. 2. Montrezl Harrell - Pittsburgh Condors (previous: 3)Edging out Hezonja by the narrowest of margins for this update, Montrezl is 2nd in scoring and PER, 3rd in P/TSA, and has very low TOs for his high usage. 3. Mario Hezonja - Seattle SuperSonics (previous: 2)Leads all wings in scoring, rebounding looks strong. P/TSA is still solid (1.1)... but his defensive stats remain anemic. 4. Jahlil Okafor - Chicago Zephyrs (previous: 5)Surprisingly strong defensive numbers and very low TOs... great scoring and rebounding. Really, really, really held down by his low FT shooting and relative inefficiency compared to everyone else on the ladder. 5. Myles Turner - Phoenix Suns (previous: 4)TOs are the glaring flaw and caused him to fall under the 3 guys directly above him. I think an argument could be made for any order in 2-5. 1st in blocks, 3rd in scoring, great efficiency. 6. Andrew Harrison - San Antonio Spurs (previous: HM)Get this man more PT! 2nd in P/TSA and his TOs are finally under 3.0/36. 7. Justin Anderson - Maine RedClaws (previous: 7)5th in P/TSA, OK volume, and very low TOs. Looks like he has the makings of solid defensive stopper on the wing. 8. Kristaps Porzingis - Phoenix Suns (previous: 6)Barely hanging on to the last spot... Zinger doesn't have any major flaws except for his desire to shoot. Defensive stats are good, TOs are low, %s are great. Honorable Mentions:
Points: Emmanuel Mudiay - Chicago Bulls Jerian Grant - Anaheim Amigos Tyus Jones - Oakland Oaks
Wings: Justise Winslow - Sacramento Kings D'Angelo Russell - Washington Bullets Devin Booker - Sacramento Kings Marcus Thornton - Spirits of St. Louis
Bigs: Rakeem Christmas - Minneapolis Lakers Trey Lyles - Spirits of St. Louis Willy Hernangomez - Washington Bullets Dakari Johnson - Virginia Squires

Final UpdateFun year, deep class. Easy winner, the rest is reallllly tight. Lots of good players don't land on the final ladder. Looks like eric wants to keep the 4.0 tradition of the Harrison Bros going... both are very intriguing, but fall just short of the Elite 8 ladder spots. Congrats to wee2dee !! TimPig ... please transfer 1k to the winner! 1. Karl-Anthony Towns - Harlem Globetrotters (previous: 1)2nd in P/TSA, 2nd in Scoring, 1st in Rebounding, 1st in WS, 1st in PER. Defensive stats are great. TOs aren't ideal, but he should grow out of it. 2. Mario Hezonja - Seattle SuperSonics (previous: 3)Seems to have slipped slightly over the course of the year, but overall still a fantastic rookie season. Elite scoring for a rookie wing, low TOs, and high rebounds. 3. Montrezl Harrell - Pittsburgh Condors (previous: 2)Leads all rookies in scoring, but probably has a small bump from playing in the minors. 2nd in PER, 4th in P/TSA. 4. Jahlil Okafor - Chicago Zephyrs (previous: 5)Narrowly edging ahead of Turner, due entirely to his low TOs and slightly better boards, Okafor could be a quality big going forward if his blocking increases slightly or his FT% increases by a lot. 5. Myles Turner - Phoenix Suns (previous: 4)Elite scoring and blocks as a rookie, 3rd in PER, 6th in P/TSA... but he turns it over quite a bit and doesn't rebound well. 6. Justise Winslow - Sacramento Kings (previous: HM)Solid scoring as a wing, good efficiency. Get that FT% up and he'll be very solid. Should continue to improve as a wing stopper.
7. Emmanuel Mudiay - Chicago Bulls (previous: HM)Improved steadily over the year, contributed to winning basketball. Finished 5th among rookies in WS. Not sure he can be a full-time PG in the future, but he can definitely be a utility backup. 8. Justin Anderson - Maine RedClaws (previous: 7)Defensive stopper, highly efficient. Solid player all around. Honorable Mentions (ranked within positional categories):
Points: Andrew Harrison - San Antonio Spurs
Wings: D'Angelo Russell - Washington Bullets Aaron Harrison - Grand Rapids Drive Devin Booker - Sacramento Kings Marcus Thornton - Spirits of St. Louis Norman Powell - Spirits of St. Louis Treveon Graham - Denver Nuggets
Bigs: Trey Lyles - Spirits of St. Louis Kristaps Porzingis - Phoenix Suns Larry Nance Jr. - Tri-Cities Blackhawks
