Bobby Jones PF 6'9" 223 23 North Carolina
"The Secretary of Defense" in Chapel Hill, Jones arrives in TMBSL ready to contribute in the front-court rotation of any team in the league. While he has been a hyper-efficient scorer, Jones has never had the volume to be the lead man on offense. Instead, he has expended his energy almost all on the defensive side of the ball. In a draft with several stand-out defenders, Jones stands above the rest. He does everything you want, he is in the right place at the right time, tips passes, denies post entries, blocks shots, jumps and snares looping passes, etc. He has the tools, size, and resilience to be a future DPOTY. His laser-focus on defense has left a few holes in his offensive game, notably an inconsistent FT shot, but scouts think he can actually be decent from the line with a full-time shooting coach. He is a very low TO player, valuing possession above attempting to make a spectacular play. He is a surprisingly average rebounder, but not a bad one. Two scouts have been asked about him, and these were their replies:
"Bobby Jones gives you two hours of his blood, showers and goes home. If I was going to ask a youngster to model after someone, I would pick Bobby Jones."
"He's a player who's totally selfless, who runs like a deer, jumps like a gazelle, plays with his head and heart each night, and then walks away from the court as if nothing happened."
