"Bad News" seems to follow him, whether it is related to off-the-court problems or on-court scuffles... Barnes is always at the center of the action. He has also been "Bad News" for opponents of the Friars, where he has gobbled up rebounds like a machine and is a gritty glue man. He led the NCAA in boards last season and has the incredible wingspan, leaping, and timing to continue that trend at the next level. He should be effective defensively, too, including on the stats sheet, as he has all of the tools you want in a defensive 4. He is lightning quick laterally and up and down the floor, and should adjust easily to the faster pace in TMBSL. He arrives as a fairly ready-made player, who can be plugged into a system quickly and produce. He probably doesn't have a lot of room to grow, primarily because of his non-basketball distractions... so GMs shouldn't expect him to grow much.
