A small dive into the basic statistics for trades since The Great Contraction^TM.

Trades are made for many reasons: boredom, cap maneuvering, team bettering, team worsening, draft picks, collusion, etc.  The first trade after Contraction was #325 between Chicago and Dallas and it served to get Chicago under the Hard Cap. The most recent trade included in this group is #619 between Oakland and Vancouver, with Vancouver buying a 2nd Round pick.  I omitted trades from departed GMs and I included Phoenix, but AndyLuck has only made 4 trades since his return... so take that with a grain of salt.  I included trades between minor league franchises as well.

Most Total Trades:

Tim gets around, I think we all know that.  He's the TMBSL Bicycle. He was once involved in 7 consecutive consummated deals (from #368-374), and no one else was ever involved in more than 4 straight by my count.

What jumps out at me more than anything is majic's low number.  Is he hard to trade with? Many people are saying it.

Most trades per season (post-contraction):

Druce's high count made me want to look at the # of trades per season for each GM, given that not everyone has been here since Contraction.  So... divide the numbers above by seasons and you get the following top 5:

1. Druce - 4.42 trades per season

2. TimPig - 3.92

3. jhb - 3.80

4. Odin - 2.15

5. Delap - 2.11

While Tim has shown consistency over many years... it looks like Druce-y is the real slut.

We all know that trades happen more between certain parties, so let's take a look at the most common hook-ups, like that old girlfriend always good for a romp in a pinch.  Looks like jhb and I keep each other satisfied... and again, Tim keeps everyone satisfied.

Sadly, we have a lot of guys that have never found it possible to seal the deal.  You guys need to open a dialogue and make it happen. (I excluded AndyLuck from this portion).  In true TimPig fashion, he's hooked up with everyone.  He's the only one to do so.  What a slut.

GMs that have never hooked up:

1. PointyEgg - 9 missed hook ups

The pointy-one has never traded with Odin, Mike, Fecta, kn88, Delap, bk, majic, Druce, or kujo.

2. kn88 - 8 missed hook ups

Natey-Eight has never traded with w2b, Odin, Mike, Fecta, majic, Druce, PointyEgg, or kujo.

3. kujo - 6 missed hook ups

Kujo's dance card is missing punches from Odin, Mike, kn88, bk, majic, and PointyEgg.

4(tie). Odin - 4 missed hook ups

The Norse God hasn't brought his thunder to kn88, majic, PointyEgg, or kujo.

4(tie). Mike - 4 missed hook ups

Long-distance relationships are hard, so it is understandable that Mike has missed out on kn88, majic, PointyEgg, and kujo.

The strangest misses between GMs (excluding kn88) are those who are active in shout and here a lot... so these guys have strangely never traded:

we've had 588 over 343 gm-seasons or 1.7 per gm per season, at that point we had 1789 over 522 or 3.4

then for the remainder of 4.0 we had 2865 over 1131 gm-seasons or 2.5

i have a memory of gauging how often blockbuster trades happened but i can't find it on the 4.0 board
