We were all so excited to get past the stink of the 2036 class we didn't even pause to think that the 2037 class could be just as bad... or maybe worse?
At this juncture I think the top 5-7 of the class will end up being better than last year's class, but the 2036 class had a larger group of potential rotation players. Once you get into the HM section here it is really depressing.
Pre-Season: The Starting Point
1. Pascal Siakam (Atlanta Hawks)
An easy #1 for now and he would be in Tier 1 by himself if we were doing it that way. Solid stats across the board, very similar to Bargnani last year (with slightly better defense and worse TOs). 2nd highest P/TSA and PER among rookies.
2. Buddy Hield (Atlanta Hawks)
Double-dip for the ATL. Great rebounding numbers for a SG. FG% needs to improve dramatically, but the volume is there, which is nice.
3. Jaylen Brown (Charlotte Hornets)
Similar to Hield, but a worse rebounder and he won't shoot as many 3s. Still something to work with there for Fecta.
4. Cheick Diallo (San Antonio Spurs)
Good rebounding, decent defensive numbers, and a glimmer of hope. If his FT% gets bumped up he could be a very promising prospect.
5. Ben Simmons (Washington Bullets)
Great rebounding from the guard line, TOs aren't too bad. Definitely fell too far in the draft.
6. Fred VanVleet (Cleveland Cavaliers) A solid PG who doesn't turn it over a ton, could definitely be goosed with +25 inside to being a lead guard.
7. Derrick Jones Jr. (Orlando Magic)
Probably making a one-time appearance on here because of sample size, but the drop-off begins around here and he gets the spot until he either performs at this level or more minutes or gets booted for lack of PT.
8. Furkan Korkmaz (Grand Rapids Drive)
This kid can furkan' shoot. FT% and 3p% are very very nice to see, and his volume doesn't look so bad either.
Honorable Mentions:
Guards: Tyler Ulis (Anaheim Amigos) Jamal Murray (San Antonio Spurs)
Wings: Josh Hart (Anaheim Amigos)
Brandon Ingram (Harlem Globetrotters)
Bigs: Marquese Chriss (Chicago Bulls) Thon Maker (Dallas Mavericks) Ivica Zubac (Chicago Zephyrs) Ante Zizic (Detroit Pistons) Georgios Papagiannis (Denver Nuggets) Jakob Poeltl (Pittsburgh Condors)

It's like turnovers mean nothing to you.

Day 40 Update1. Fred VanVleet - Portland Trail Blazers (previous rank: 6)Clearly the best player at the most valuable position in the league, VanVleet is ready for the big time. 3rd among rooks in PER, 5th in P/TSA, good volume, and the rare rookie PG without a major TO problem. He gets the top spot. 2. Brandon Ingram - Virginia Squires (previous rank: HM)He took the slight of being left off the initial Ladder and turned it into the motivation necessary to show out. 1st in PER among rookies, the best scoring volume, and low TOs. 3. Pascal Siakam - Atlanta Hawks (previous rank: 1)He hasn't done anything wrong to fall to 3rd, the other guys have just been better. Leads all rookies in P/TSA, but his volume has decreased a tad, along with his defensive stats. Still a top tier prospect. 4. Buddy Hield - Atlanta Hawks (previous rank: 2)Good volume, good efficiency for a wing. Smallish sample, but he is very likely among the very best FT shooters in the league already. 5. Jaylen Brown - Charlotte Hornets (previous rank: 3)There is a decent gap between Hield and Brown in my eyes, and it is all in the TOs column. He looks to be a slightly worse jump-shooter too, but the TOs are the big difference. 6. Thon Maker - Spirits of St. Louis (previous rank: HM)Not enough minutes to be too sure yet, but the defensive stats look really nice. Volume is OK and the TOs are super low. If the TOs creep up or the FT% plummets, that could do him in as a prospect, but for now, he is very promising. 7. Dragan Bender - Pittsburgh Condors (previous rank: NR)Great scoring volume, not great rebounding or TOs... but a strong PER. There is a drop-off between #6 and the rest of the class right now, but the Dragon [sic] gets the top spot for this moment, but the hold is tenuous at best. 8. Cheick Diallo - San Antonio Spurs (previous rank: 4)He hasn't improved on his PreSeason, but has maintained decent numbers. His rebounding is OK, but his defense could be very very good. Still needs that FT% boost from a +infinity in jumpshot. Honorable Mentions:
Guards: Bryn Forbes - Anaheim Amigos Isaiah Whitehead - Anaheim Amigos
Wings: Ben Simmons - Washington Bullets Caris LeVert - Pittsburgh Condors Malcolm Brogdon - Oakland Oaks Denzel Valentine - Spirits of St. Louis
Bigs: Ivica Zubac - Chicago Zephyrs Jakob Poeltl - Pittsburgh Condors Marquese Chriss - Chicago ZephyrsMost of the HMs have a glaring weakness (TOs especially), but otherwise have some intriguing positives.

I'm not ready to buy the FVV hype with C/B scoring grades. I don't think a 1.12 pts/tsa holds up with those grades, and he's not really great anywhere else.

Day 80 UpdateThe race for #1 is tighter than ever. Honestly, the top 4 guys all could make a reasonable case for the top spot. 1. Brandon Ingram - Virginia Squires (previous rank: 2)Narrowly in the lead over FVV, mostly by virtue of a larger sample size. First among rookies in scoring/36 and in PER. 2. Fred VanVleet - Portland Trail Blazers (previous rank: 1)Again, it is picking nits between these two. FVV plays at a premium position and has shown he has good volume and surprisingly low TOs, easily posting the best A:TO among the class. 3. Buddy Hield - Atlanta Hawks (previous rank: 4)A fantastic scorer and easily leads all eligible rookies with a 1.18 P/TSA. 4. Pascal Siakam - Atlanta Hawks (previous rank: 3)The best defender in the class with 2.5 stocks/bleals per 36 and an average P/TSA, he could really do some damage with some points pumped into his jumper. 5. Cheick Diallo - San Antonio Spurs (previous rank: 8)Good volume, close to average efficiency, and great rebounding. What separates him from other bigs in the class is the lack of TOs. 6. Jaylen Brown - Charlotte Hornets (previous rank: 5)Volume is OK, efficiency is decent... the rest is meh. He's clearly a Top 6 rookie... but mostly because the drop-off after 6 seems steep right now. 7. Josh Hart - Anaheim Amigos (previous rank: NR)He's finally played in enough games to trust the efficiency, which looks very very good. The volume needs some work though. Intriguing prospect. 8. Ron Baker - Spirits of St. Louis (previous rank: NR)Narrowly edging out Malik Beasley for the last spot (there is another big drop-off after Beasley), Ron Baker looks surprisingly good? Good volume, assists totals, and efficiency. TOs aren't unmanageable. Honorable Mentions:Again, these aren't really ranked... but Malik Beasley would be the next man up and after that ??? Guards: Isaiah Whitehead - Anaheim Amigos Tyler Ulis - Anaheim Amigos
Wings: Malik Beasley - Cleveland Cavaliers Ben Simmons - Washington Bullets Denzel Valentine - Anaheim Amigos Georges Niang - Anaheim Amigos
Bigs: Thon Maker - Spirits of St. Louis Ivica Zubac - Chicago Zephyrs Jakob Poeltl - Pittsburgh Condors Marquese Chriss - Chicago Zephyrs Skal Labissiere - Chicago Bulls

End of Season - Final LadderThis was razor thin, folks. The Top 3 are separated by the narrowest of margins, 4 stands alone, and 5-8 have bright futures. The drop-off after the Top 8 is quite precipitous, so the HM list will be very short to end the season, because many of the other rookies really lack honor. Note: You will not see ROTY Kay Felder in the Elite 8 or HM list. 1. Buddy Hield - Atlanta Hawks (previous: 3)4th in PER, 1st in P/TSA by a wide margin, and the best scoring volume in the class, this year's winner is Buddy Hield! 2. Brandon Ingram - Virginia Squires (previous: 2)2nd in scoring volume, 2nd in PER, and low TOs all show a SF with a very promising future as a lead scorer. 3. Fred VanVleet - Vancouver Grizzlies (previous: 1)Good scoring, good efficiency, and by far the best A:TO ratio among rookies. He is absolutely a starting PG in the very near future and a potential All-Star. 4. Cheick Diallo - San Antonio Spurs (previous: 5)1st in PER, good scoring and rebounding volume. A major steal in the draft, especially since he has decent defensive numbers, too. 5. Pascal Siakam - Oakland Oaks (previous: 4)A wonderful defensive and rebounding prospect, who is actually efficient. Scoring volume is his Achilles Heel... if he gets that going he will have a great career. 6. Jaylen Brown - Charlotte Hornets (previous: 6)2nd highest P:TSA in the class... and not a whole lot else. TOs aren't a deal killer, though. Solid prospect. 7. Malik Beasley - Cleveland Cavaliers (previous: NR)Malik finds his way into the Eight for the final ranking based on good scoring volume and efficiency. TOs are low. Also a solid prospect. 8. Josh Hart - Tri-Cities Blackhawks (previous: 7)Hart falls a spot, because while his efficiency is outstanding and his non-scoring attributes look good, he just doesn't shoot enough. Solid prospect, needs to want it more. Honorable Mentions: Guards: Ron Baker - Spirits of St. Louis Isaiah Whitehead - Anaheim Amigos Tyler Ulis - Anaheim Amigos
Wings: Ben Simmons - Washington Bullets Abdel Nader - Anaheim Amigos
Bigs: Domantas Sabonis - Oakland Oaks Georgios Papagiannis - Denver Nuggets Ivica Zubac - Chicago Zephyrs Marquese Chriss - Chicago ZephyrsCongratulations to jhb ! TimPig , please move 1,000 of your units from my bank account to his.

40,000.
And I stand by FVV not having a great career. Open to side bets on this.

Pretty suspicious that the two All-Rookie First Team bigs barely cracked the honorable mentions.
