Resurrecting from the grave... The Rookie Ladder has returned! If Muzunga also tries to do this (lol), he's gonna get a face full of my ladder... IN HIS FACE! This will be updated for the PreSeason, after 40 games, after 80 games, and at the end of the year, where we will crown "Delap's Rookie of the Year"... with 1k of prize money (paid in TimPig units) will be delivered from yours truly to the winning player's GM. It will feature the Elite 8 rookies, along with honorable mentions.
PreSeason
1. Paul Millsap (Washington Bullets)
BoardMan gets paid... and gets the top spot for the PreSeason rankings. His per/36 numbers of 18 points and 14 boards are fantastic, his FT% looks pretty good, and his P/TSA ranks 10th among all rookies. Turnovers are the major concern here.
2. Shelden Williams (Oakland Oaks)
The highest scorer among rookies for the PreSeason, Williams ranks 9th in P/TSA while also putting very nice volume and grabbing a ton of boards. 3. Steve Novak (Charlotte Hornets)
The rookie leader in P/TSA (1.117) is nothing to be ashamed of in Charlotte. Add in that he is pulling in 7.5 boards per 36 from the SF position and you got yourself a good little player. 4. Patrick O'Bryant (Atlanta Hawks)
The +6 Irishman himself, O'Bryant was a double-double machine (per36), at a respectable percentage, in the PreSeason. Add in 2.5 stocks/bleals per 36 and you got a nice Irish Stew going. He ranks 6th among rookies in P/TSA. 5. LaMarcus Aldridge (Portland Trailblazers)
Great FT% leads me to believe Aldridge can maintain his high P/TSA (7th among rookies). His rebounding numbers are fantastic, but his defensive numbers are pretty average. 6. J.J. Redick (Tri-Cities Blackhawks) 5th in P/TSA at a good volume for a guard, low turnovers, and a belief that his 3p% is actually going to increase, Redick finds himself in a good spot on the ladder heading into the season. His APG are also pretty high for a SG, so that's nice. 7. Andrea Bargnani (Dallas Mavericks)
Good scoring volume, good rebounding, and low turnovers, a lot to like here. 8. Mouhamed Sene (Dallas Mavericks)
The rookie leader in stocks/bleals per 36 (with 2.9) and decent volume, Sene finds the last ranked spot on the list... for now. There is a big gap between 7 and the rest in my mind.
Honorable Mentions (in no particular order)
Rudy Gay (Tri-Cities Blackhawks) - Turnovers are killer, but scoring volume and efficiency look promising. Allan Ray (Pittsburgh Condors) - 2nd in P/TSA with somewhat decent volume for a SG. A really poor man's J.J. Redick. A completely homeless man's Ray Allen. Pops Mensah-Bonsu (Pittsburgh Condors) - If you squint you see a great defender (2.7 stocks/bleals per 36, only behind Sene among rookies) who doesn't turn it over... that's not bad. Thabo Sefolosha (Pittsburgh Condors) - Highest FG% among rookies, but horrible volume. Looks to be a good defender with high steals. He won't last long in this section unless his FT% really bounces up... along with his volume. Louis Amundson (Vancouver Grizzlies) - A double-double machine (per 36)... but just horrible, horrible efficiency. PJ Tucker (Chicago Bulls) - Double-doubles, decent defensive stats... just not super efficient and turnovers could creep up.

Needs more Mavericks draftees for sure. Five out of twelve isn’t enough.
Also, damn this draft was bad. From my perspective Novak might be the most salvageable.

LADDER UPDATE - DAY 40Really not trying to be a homer... but this class doesn't look great and I don't think there are many valid arguments as a ton of players have some major deficiencies. Day 40 rankings will sorta remember the pre-season that occurred... and will use those rankings as a starting point, but we are mostly focused on games that count. By the Day 80 update it will entirely be based on in-season production. 1. Andrea Bargnani - Pittsburgh Condors (previous rank: 7)The best P/TSA in the class on decent volume, around 1.5 stocks per 36, not bad on turnovers, and a good FT%. Not a sexy leader, but a pretty clear leader among this group. 2. Shelden Williams - Oakland Oaks (previous rank: 2)Injured after only 5 games, so take this with a big grain of NaCl, but he was great in the PreSeason and great in those 5 games in the big league. Good scoring and great rebounding so far. His place grows more tenuous going forward, given the small sample. 3. Mouhamed Sene - Pittsburgh Condors (previous rank: 8)A solid big in terms of defensive numbers and rebounding (3.8 stocks/bleals per 36) that isn't super efficient. He and #4 on this list are very similar, but Sene's numbers are better across the board so far (save FT%) 4. Patrick O'Bryant - Spirits of St. Louis (previous rank: 4)Like the guy above him, he's solid but not efficient so far. 5. Paul Millsap - Washington Bullets (previous rank: 1)Hanging in the Elite 8 because of his stellar PreSeason. Still a beast of a rebounder, but his efficiency has fallen off of a cliff. 6. Joel Freeland - Anaheim Amigos (previous rank: NR)Good scoring, great rebounding, low turnovers... not at bad player at all. Doesn't really do anything for you defensively, but otherwise solid 7. Brandon Roy - Pittsburgh Condors (previous rank: NR)After a pretty dreadful PreSeason, Roy has been one of the best rookies in the regular season thus far. Decent volume, 3rd among rooks in P/TSA, and a very high FT% (and almost assuredly near 0 3pt rating). 8. Josh Boone - Cleveland Cavaliers (previous rank: NR)2nd best pure scoring big in the group (after Bargnani), but his defensive stats are meh and he turns the ball over too much. Honorable Mention List:Alexander Johnson - Chicago Bulls: Good numbers, minutes are just too low right now Pops Mensah-Bonsu - Pittsburgh Condors: Great defensive stats, low turnovers... nothing else to like J.J. Redick - Tri-Cities Blackhawks: Efficiency is low, but hasn't completely tanked. Assist numbers are promising, scoring volume isn't a lost cause at all. Maurice Ager - Pittsburgh Condors: Similar to Redick in output, aside from the assists. Boobie Gibson - Anaheim Amigos: Good volume and efficiency for a rookie PG Special Category: Flawed PGsBoobie Gibson might be the tallest midget right now... these other PGs are not inspiring confidence, but deserve a special section for the Day 40 update Kyle Lowry - Oakland Oaks: The God of Turnovers, averaging 4.7 per 36 (pushing Epstein for the worst of all-time. Ton of assists, literally nothing else good. Rajon Rondo - Detroit Pistons: The Worst Shooter in Sim History, shooting a cool 26.7% from the field and an outstanding .664 P/TSA JJ Barea - Pittsburgh Condors: Might actually be OK? Turnovers are a major flaw... but at least he wants to shoot a little bit. Proud owner of a ROTM award.

Agree with the top 3. Williams might get the bump above Bargnani once he comes back and plays but right now it's too tough to tell. Sene looks surprisingly good.
After that everything is garbage.

LADDER UPDATE - DAY 80At this point all rankings are purely based on the regular season. Again, this class isn't great and I see a big gap after the Top 4 to the rest... and then a big puddle of ??? in the Honorable Mention section, which is quite large for this update. 1. Andrea Bargnani - Pittsburgh Condors (previous ranking: 1)Leads all rookies in P/TSA (among eligible players), good volume on defensive stats and rebounding, not bad on TOs. Legitimately a good player in this weak class. 2. Brandon Roy - Pittsburgh Condors (previous ranking: 2)Biggest jump in the rankings for the leaper from WashU, his volume isn't quite where you would want it, but his efficiency is solid. Another TC of growth and +15 more in strength could fix his usage issue. 3. Paul Millsap - Washington Bullets (previous ranking: 5Efficiency has improved since the last update, rebounding is still an elite skill for him (even among all TMBSL players, not just this class). 4. Shelden Williams - Oakland Oaks (previous ranking: 2)He hasn't replicated his PreSeason success, but he is still scoring and rebounding at a good clip. FT% has fallen off a cliff, could use some +25 in jumpshot. 5. Adam Morrison - San Antonio Spurs (previous ranking: NRVolume and efficiency are promising and real skills, but defensively he looks pretty bad and he doesn't rebound well at all. 6. J.J. Redick - Tri-Cities Blackhawks (previous ranking: NR)So I guess I have a thing for this guy... I see potential here and hopefully he gets the TC love to reach his potential. If his volume just ticks up a bit he could be really good. 7. Boobie Gibson - Anaheim Amigos (previous ranking: NR)A point guard makes the Elite 8! Turnovers aren't terrible, efficiency is surprisingly OK, and he can score a bit. That's more than enough in this draft class. 8. Mouhamed Sene - Pittsburgh Condors (previous ranking: 3)Sene's efficiency continutes to slide, but his defensive counting stats remain electric, just barely enough to hang on for this update. Honorable Mentions:Bigger group that normal, I'll add a few thoughts for each subset. Alexander Johnson and Yotam Halperin - Chicago BullsTwo guys that simply don't have enough minutes to make the Elite 8, but should make Tim happy. J.J Barea - Pittsburgh CondorsKyle Lowry - Oakland OaksROTM winners that absolutely aren't that good, almost entirely due to turnovers. If either of them stopped the sieve, they could be pretty good. Patrick O'Bryant - Spirits of St. Louis Lamarcus Aldridge - Portland Trail Blazers Joel Freeland - Anaheim Amigos Josh Boone - Cleveland CavaliersBigs that I wouldn't give up on, yet. Rajon Rondo - Detroit Pistons Maurice Ager - Pittsburgh CondorsGuards that I wouldn't give up on, yet.

LADDER UPDATE - END OF SEASON - FINAL STANDINGSWe made it folks, the end of a long slog for these rookies... and for us for having to watch them. Without further ado, the Elite 8 are: 1. Andrea Bargnani - Pittsburgh CondorsA pretty easy call. Of eligible players (sorry Halperin and Mardy Collins) he led all rookies in P/TSA by a big margin, led all rookies in WS (5.1), and overall looks like a legitimate starter (but probably not super star) in TMBSL for a long career. 2. Shelden Williams - Oakland OaksEasy #2. Good scorer and rebounder, strong PER. Would have been a stronger contender had he not broken his skull. That said, there is a big gap in my mind between him and #3. 3. Adam Morrison - San Antonio SpursGot better every update and is probably poised to be the best player on his team shortly, so he'll get the chance to prove himself as a #1. Finished 2nd in WS among rookies (3.3). 4. Paul Millsap - Washington BulletsRebounding and relatively low TOs keep him in the top, narrowly edging out #s 5 and 6 on the list. Could very well be the best rebounder in the league by the time his rookie deal is up. 5. Brandon Roy - Pittsburgh CondorsThe highest ranked guard because his WS, P/TSA, and volume are slightly better than Redick's, and his TOs are lower. His PreSeason was really bad, but the Mavericks organization is really pleased by the turnaround during the regular season. 6. J.J. Redick - Tri-Cities BlackhawksI continue to be a believer, assuming he gets the TCs and upgrades he deserves. 7. Mouhamed Sene - Pittsburgh CondorsNarrowly ahead of Aldridge, Boone, and Freeland for the last big man spot, due to his defensive dominance over those 3. His scoring volume is their equal, if his efficiency isn't. This was really close. 8. Boobie Gibson - Anaheim AmigosThe best PG in the class, unless Lowry can get his TOs way down or Rondo can learn to shoot even a little. He could reasonably be a starter in the future. Honorable Mentions (in order!)Lamarcus Aldridge Joel Freeland Josh Boone Rudy Gay Maurice Ager Alexander Johnson Kyle Lowry Yotam Halperin Patrick O'Bryant Dee Brown Pops Mensah-Bonsu

Changing my vote to 40k, 10k for each update.
I do not see in Redick what you see in Redick. Good for Rudy Gay at least getting an honorable mention though.
