This past week had a lot of emotions for some in Michigan.
During the last win against the Blackhawks, the Pistons hosted a small ceremony through half time for the retired power forward Chris Webber, team's best sixth man got to say a few words to the public and family while his number was going up to the rafters. Prime time took place once the game finished with Detroit taking the win, Shawn Kemp got his jersey up in there alongside the best players that wore the Pistons uniform.
Plenty of former players attended to the ceremony including Bad Boys Michael Jordan, Zan Tabak, Rick Fox, former teammates Rip Hamilton, Antonio Daniels, Jason Kidd(playing for the Blackhawks), Trey Burke, Kenyon Martin, and many more of his friends.
Kemp showed grattitude to the city and it's fanbase while having a great moment with his family but also made clear that he was kind of surprised that GM Mike took this long to host this. -"It's about damn time if you ask me, they put Livio up there right away and made me wait years for this even being one of the cursed boys. Fuck knows what Mike was thinking" - replied when he was asked how he felt about the moment. Detroit's curse falls upon Mike's favourite prospects since he likes to keep them for their whole career on the team, among them we can find careers like Michael Jordan's, Zan Tabak's and for what it looks Bill Russell will join
We had a couple of words with infamous GM Mike after the ceremony and couldn't avoid asking why they took so long to make it happen. -"Well, I kinda forgot we didn't do them. The last few seasons were too intense and we were focused on getting back on track."- answered with a little bit of a nervious expression.
Our bet is that Detroit season was being a disaster and after this hot streak the team's got lately opened the window to fill the arena without being booed for such a shitty performances in recent seasons.
