what if every draft class a handful of random players got a Hidden Potential mark that meant if they received an upgrade of at least +10 they would get an additional +10

Tell me more
Give me a better example of how this would work functionally

Love it. Any sort of little quirks like this are awesome.

I would prefer if this were for the non-profile guys to make the back half of the draft more interesting rather than adding something for the guys already likely to be good

Sounds intriguing. Would like more information like jhb suggested so we can fully understand how it would work.

Tell me more Give me a better example of how this would work functionally skrouse upgrades jim jackson +10 1. Jump Shot 2. Inside Scoring 3. Strength 4. Shot Blocking currently he'd get +6 inside +4 strength if he had Hidden Bonus, he'd instead get +6 inside +4 strength BONUS +10 strength this BONUS +10 wouldn't hit the GM yearly cap or player career cap . i'm leery of restricting it to just non profile since those players hardly get upgrades anyway, and we've had some pretty lousy profile players too my plan is doing 5 players total per class

Wow I completely misunderstood this.
I thought it meant the player would get +10 potential.

I feel like I don’t like an obvious elite player getting that bonus but I like the idea

It sounds like the "hidden bump" would be taken into effect on whichever attribute the GM was upgrading (e.g. strength in the Jim Jackson example above)?
If so, what if the hidden bump put them over the cap for that attribute? Would they only receive an additional +4 or whatever is left?
Also, you'll usually indicate grade changes after an upgrade. If someone were to get +1 with the upgrade, and then an extra +1 due to the hidden bump, would you put +1 or +2? I guess if you put +1 and then the GM checked their roster and saw they actually went +2, it'd be a dead giveaway.
Finally, with the Jim Jackson example above, let's say he got +10 strength with the hidden bump. He's only used +15 so far in his career. If Skrouse came back and gave him an extra +10 steals or whatever, would Jackson get another +10 steals? Or is the hidden bump capped at +10 total?

Or is the hidden bump capped at +10 total? it would be just like a normal +10, it would roll over until all attributes were exhausted, and the gm would be notified of the excess if necessary. unlike normal, the bonus would not be transferable to other players the bonus wouldn't be hidden, i would post it just like in the example and it's a one time only thing

Would we know the players or nah? only after they were upgraded Could be a scouting add on, like +10K to know?

can we fix this before implementing

simple RNG, exclude top 3 picks (by your estimation) or whatever.

only after they were upgraded Could be a scouting add on, like +10K to know? i like that idea how about making it an automatic notification for tier 3/4, and for tier 2 if used on potential

i'm not that worried about this because if a player is elite it means their attributes that are good are already really high. like if joel embiid got a bonus +10 but it could only go to handling or quickness or whatever, does anyone really care?

seems like maybe there could be a better way to disperse rather than random

my first thought is give it to all players BK drafts
my second thought is it should maybe go with players who have "potential" as their strength (for not profile guys) or who say they have lots of "potential" in the profile. This will be a list of 7-9 guys, then give 3 the bonus.

I agree with the second paragraph. Still need to think more about your first idea, though it’s certainly growing on me.

The more I think on it:
1. RNG 1 of the profile players 2. RNG 4 of the non-profile players
that's the best solution

Also, the number of profiled players varies year to year, correct? I think we should make it fully random, but it should be captured somewhere so we have controls around it and can look back to see who had them.
