On this, the last year of the 2000s, the Post-Galactic Senate welcomes one and all to the inaugural Tournament of Champions! In this competition, ten triple crown champions have been plucked from the far flung reaches of time and space:
2029 Bulls
2024 Hawks
2023 Hawks
2021 Globetrotters
2020 Bulls
2018 Globetrotters
2017 Globetrotters
2014 Trail Blazers
2012 Hornets
2010 Hornets
These sterling squads were cloned at the moment their playoff runs began and transmogrified to a league otherwise consisting of the league average robots we all know and love if we know what's good for us. After the usual 82 game season, the eight champions with the highest win loss records will be seeded from one through eight and proceed to a three round single elimination tournament where the highest seed faces the lowest, the second highest faces the second lowest, the third highest faces the third lowest, and so on for all remaining teams.
But first, awards! and shares!

The shield goes to the Harlem Globetrotters of 2018 while fractional computations indicate it is the Charlotte Hornets of 2010 that will be the team to beat in the play-offs, even though they only managed the Arsene Wenger fourth place trophy on tiebreakers.
The same Globetrotters on day 118 beat the Charlotte Hornets of 2012 to close the gap in the race for the crown to a scant 2 Elos but with a game in hand the Hornets controlled their own destiny.
...or so they believed.
With the tiebreaker already lost their opponent had nothing to play for in the standings, as they would be the 5th seed regardless of the game's outcome.
Giannis Antetokounmpo won Player of the Game.
The Hornets won the first three quarters.
But your Chicago Bulls of 2020 won the last one, and the ball game.
General Manager Tim Pigulski was heard across the concourse bellowing "that's for busting up our 30 game winning streak!!!"
General Manager Ward "Two" Dee could be seen "high" fiving Vlade Divac, and even Zach Randolph glanced up from his Bible study for a sensible chuckle.
General Manager Fecta could not be reached for comment.
With the shield and crown in hand, the Harlem Globetrotters of 2018 need only one more honor to secure a once-unthinkable triple crown champion of triple crown champions.
.
On an individual level, Giannis Antetokounmpo of 2012 amassed the most Player of the Month awards (4) and most Player of the Week awards (3) as well as leading all players with a sparkling 16.6 Win Shares. Unfortunately he trailed in the decisive stat of triple doubles 1 to 2 to the actual MVP Oscar Robertson of 2029, so it was an easy vote in the end.
The closest balloting came in the hard fought Defensive Player of the Year award, and in the end Kawhi Leonard narrowly edged out Kawhi Leonard. Representatives for Mr. Leonard congratulated Kawhi on the achievement, then took an aspirin.
Despite having two of the top four Win Share seasons, Yao Ming managed zero All-NBA First Teams. Here in the year 2999 we have long since embraced color blindness so far be it from us to speculate on what tipped the scales for Jonas "Whitey White White Boy" Valanciunas.

Playoffs will be tomorrow at 3 PM Eastern Standard Time, as the humans once reckoned time.
