- Selected with the 26th pick in the second round of the Creation Draft by the Miami Heat and agreed to terms on a 2 year deal with the team
- Opted to test free agency after his first contract with the Heat expired and agreed to terms on a 6 year, max contract with the Utah Jazz
- After his deal with the Jazz expired following the 2007 season, Maten agreed to terms on a new 6 year, $112,500,000 contract with the Detroit Pistons (who would then move the following season to Denver and become the Denver Nuggets of the East)
- During the 2009 season, he was traded alongside Flamingo Bob and Kostas Antetokounmpo for Darius Miles, Gorgui Dieng, Lucas Nogueria, RJ Barrett, Phil Jackson, and six first round draft picks in the 2010 and 2011 drafts belonging to the Hawks, Clippers, Bulls, and Spurs
