Accepted resignings are also automatically protected. Expirings cannot be taken in the expansion draft. Existing GMs can protect up to another five players on their team. New GMs otherwise can take on up to one player and their contract from each existing team. I encourage everyone to post their protections in this thread, but if for whatever reason you want to PM/text them to me instead that's fine too. You can only protect a player who is under contract for the 2018 season and later.
Because only those players may be claimed.
If that player offers to resign and you accept it at any point, that player is automatically protected.
