4 teams remain in contention for that "numba one spot" as Ludacris would say: the Bulls, Lakers, Hornets, and somehow... the Mavericks. This is a quick rundown (analysis is too strong of a word) of their remaining games, with projected records.
Bulls:
@ Hornets
@ Heat @ Thunder Trailblazers @ Magic Hawks Bucks @ Kings
Hawks are an auto-win. They should also beat the Thunder, Bucks, and Kings. That leaves the Hornets, Magic, Heat, and Trailblazers. I see them splitting those 4 (losing to the Hornets and either the Magic or Heat)... meaning the Bulls end 6-2, with a 61-21 record.
Lakers:
@ Pistons @ Pistons Clippers
Trailblazers @ Magic @ Colonels
5-1 all day. They'll lose one of their double-dip-in-Detroit and sweep the rest. 62-20 for them.
Hornets:
Mavericks Bulls Globetrotters @ Hawks @ Trailblazers Hawks
2 auto wins (Hawks) and 4 really challenging games remain, fortunately they get them at home. 4-2 finish for the Horny Fectas and 63-19.
Mavericks:
@ Hornets 76ers @ Magic @ Timberwolves Jazz @ Rockets Timberwolves Oaks Colonels
9 in the last 10 days, more than the other challengers, mean the Mavericks have the highest variation. I'm calling their shot and predicting an 8-1 finish... meaning a season record of 62-20.
Predicted Top 4:
1. Hornets
2. Lakers (win the tie-break with the Mavs on differential. 2-2 season series)
3. Mavericks
4. Bulls

No mention of Portland? Only two games out of first with eight to play.
Not surprised to see the Bulls get no love from Delap (again).
5k.

Blazers have 3 games left against the top teams... can't see them overcoming that deficit. (And yes, I understand that if they pull off 3-0 against Lakers, Hornets, Bulls they will likely be Top 4... I just don't see it)

Got the order correct and was proven correct to not include Portland. Suck it (politely), Tim.

1-3 on overall records. Feel free to politely suck yourself, thank you very much. And you can thank the Heat and Ray McCallum's wild elbows for breaking Trevon Duval's jaw, thereby inserting 6'8 power forward Donnell Harvey in as my backup point guard.
