Hey fam, whipped up a quick Elo sheet for the chess we've been doing. How it works is: Everyone starts at a 1200. If two people of the same rating play the winner gets +25 and the loser gets -25. If the ratings are different math happens such that beating someone lower than you gives less than 25, and beating someone higher than you gives you more, but in every case the amount gained is the same as the amount lost.
Now, since the rating you go into a game with determines how much change there is, we need to define some order for how we consider the games. Since it can be referenced the easiest I went with when the thread was created. Through the first eight matches (thread ids 2345 2346 2347 2391 2397 2400 2401 and 2430) here's where we stand:
elo matches name 1288 4 eric 1225 1 delap 1220 1 mike 1204 4 jhb 1150 2 ian 1113 4 bk Note how jhb being .500 doesn't necessarily or in fact work out to 1200, but it's close because we're all still around the same range. Note also how herb isn't here because while he has finished a game, ones that have started in between are yet to.

but in every case the amount gained is the same as the amount lost. this doesn't seem right. the amount of games should matter.
