Redoing the amnesty? (135 views)

I was hesitant to post this thread since I have used more amnesties (I think) than anyone in 5.0, but now that I (assume) I will have a very amnesty-worthy contract in Donnell Harvey, I think it's a fair time to bring it up.

I think the cost should be increased a bit, to perhaps 75,000 or 100,000.

With how easy it is to earn dump bucks now - correct DCs, missing the playoffs, automated box score rewards, pick timeliness (none of which were available in 4.0) - getting out of bad contracts is easier than ever.

There are currently 13 teams that could amnesty someone right now, plus another team who used an amnesty this past offseason and still has 30,000 in the bank. There are plenty of non-playoff teams who have chosen not to cash in their 10,000 per year of missing the playoffs, but that'd surely bring the number up too.

i hear you, but we've only had 7 paid amnesties in 10+ seasons. i think that's a reasonable rate

but i'll keep an eye on it going forward, if it starts seeming too common we can revisit this

Curious how often we saw it in 4.0? In my short time there I don’t ever remember seeing it.

Don't see that in the rules.
