The Sacramento Kings are an EMBARRASSMENT.
There's no way around it. This franchise needs to start over.
Again.
I know, I know. They've seemingly started over every year since the league's inception. Sources I've spoken with are adamant that the fans in Sacramento are losing their patience after GM Killy Bing wasted the best years of future Hall of Famer Peyton Gragg's career.
For a brief time, things were looking up in Sacramento. A stockpile of draft picks and one of the league's best floor generals in Courtney Alexander were ready to resurrect the hapless franchise before Bing was released from jail following his arrest for driving with a blood alcohol content nearly three times the legal limit.
Upon regaining control of the Kings, Bing publicly proclaimed his disgust with Alexander's play and said the team was shifting its focus to young up-and-coming forwards Livio Jean-Charles and Bison Dele, two former lottery picks.
After one season, it's easy to see the experiment has failed. Dele finished 23rd in win shares among power forwards, ranking behind multiple "elite" big men, such as Cody Zeller, Cameron Parker, and Tacko Fall.
Jean-Charles, who Bing is on record as saying is more deserving of his rich contract than Courtney Alexander, finished 18th among centers, behind household names like Goga Bitadze and Manute Bol.
Alexander finished 18th among point guards, but also had to spend most of his season fighting off reporters who wanted to know if Alexander would demand a trade out of Sacramento just months after he was acquired. Rumors say many teams inquired, but the league office has done everything they can to keep Alexander in Sacramento, knowing full well he's the most important person currently affiliated with the franchise.
So what's the solution?
It's simple. Delete Dele. Leave Livio. You need Courtney, Unseld, and Frazier.
The Kings have a golden opportunity to decline the third and fourth years of Dele's rookie contract to free up a small bit of cap space, as well as the space he wastes while he's on the floor. With some clever management of their financial situation, Jean-Charles can be amnestied.
It's really all very simple, but this franchise has never been one that's able to make the simple move to help themselves.
I would ask someone to help them (again), but God knows they wouldn't accept it.
