After a recent interview with new Pacers GM, AHebrewToo, I came to the realization that efficiency is underrated.
The Pacers’ best players are unquestionably Daniel Taurasi and Morris Peterson, but with Hall in Free Agency this offseason, AHebrewToo had to fend off offer after offer for Donta Hall. Without a single offer for Taurasi or Peterson, AHebrewToo was confounded. For a player averaging under 6 PPG, this level of interest was uncalled for.
Without clarity, the offers continued. Two potential starters AND two first round picks for an ineffective offensive player? Just what are we all missing?
Wait. A center that shoots 90 percent free throws? On minimal field goal attempts? Is that helpful?
Yes
A center that gathers 9 rebounds per game with an additional four blocks? That’s 9 more possessions and 8 points off the board. Or a 26 point swing.
So we have a poor shooting center, with enough strength to rebound the basketball and more than enough sense to not try shooting bad shots?
This young man is not going anywhere. A perfect complement to Daniel Taurasi and Morris Peterson, Donta Hall has got the stats to put the Pacers into the conversation for 2010 TMBSL champions.
