Proposing a new way to spend dump bucks: the Brady Restructuring.
Description: A player that (i) is over 33, (ii) has a greed less than 30 or loyalty over 80, and (iii) is currently under contract on a team that was in the playoffs the prior year may spread the money owed over the remaining contract over an additional period.
Cost: 10k dump bucks to add 1 year. 25k dump bucks to add 2 years.
Thoughts?

i feel like this is too much of an advantage for good teams retaining star players
if i have for example a player coming off the first max at $21m, i need to pay a huge amount for a long time to keep them
under the proposal, i could instead get them for another two years at $7m a pop and still have a great chance at retaining them because i would necessarily have birds, so regardless of my cap i could start them at the same $17.5m as everyone with $17.5m in cap, which is not many
i would like it better if these were flat extensions, so you could pay $10k to get another year of the guy at $21m, but i still wouldn't like it that much.

I don't think you'd have a 34+ year old player coming off of a first max, but even if you did it is still within the narrative of the selfless veteran. I think we could tinker with it to say that each year has to be at least 70 percent of the current year's contract. So the player making 21m would make 14.7m for three years. That would fix your objection.

Name: The Taurasi Restructuring
Applies to: players that (i) 33 or older, (ii) have 30 or less greed and 70 or more loyalty (iii) are currently under contract for 2-4 years
Description: You may extend this player for 2-3 additional years. Contract would start at 20% of previous total money owed +5,000,000 for each year left on the deal and would decrease by 10% each season (-10% defined as previous year salary x 0.9)
Cost: 30k to add 2 years, 40k to add 3 years
Name: David West Exception
Applies to: Players who (i) Are 33 or older, (ii) have 30 or less greed and 70 or more play for winner, (iii) are free agents who were not resigned
Description: You may offer an MLE to a player who made less than 8,000,000 the previous season OR LLE to a player who made less than 4,500,000 the previous season. These are made along with your Day 1 FA offers and sign before Day 1 is processed. If multiple people bid on the same player the tiebreaker that will be used is: 1. Win Rating, 2. Playoff wins previous season, 3. Most Recent Title
Cost: 15k for MLE, 10k for LLE (you only pay if they sign)

not a big fan of this, too much cap relief for playoff teams and keeps the eligible star players out of FA.

Just to clarify how the +5m works - I think you mean you add it to the total remaining owed salary and not to the base salary after you've taken 20 percent of the remaining owed salary. As an example, if it were the latter Taurasi's contract would balloon to 29,625,000 when he becomes eligible if I were to use it. Showing my work - Next year he'll have 3 years left and his remaining owed salary will be 73,125,000. 20 percent of 73,150,000 is 14,625,000. Add in 15m (3 years remaining x 5m) and the starting contract is 29,625,000.

Taurasi is owed $93,750,000 over 4 years
93,750,000 + (4x5,000,000) = 113,750,000
20% of 113,750,000 is $22,750,000
-10% each season
