Offers Ranked
5. Spurs send 08, 10, 12 1sts + Manute Bol
This offer didn't really receive much consideration. As the screenshot shows, RW tried offering his 2013 1st, which he doesn't have possession of yet. He never made an effort to re-negotiate despite the fact that 20% of what he was offering couldn't be offered. It makes more sense now considering he got Bamba for a far lower price.
4. Heat send Zion Williamson
I did give this offer some consideration for a bit. Zion has been more efficient than Ayton recently, blocks more shots, and his TOs haven't been that much higher. As you can see, not much negotiating happened. I didn't want to do a straight up trade without receiving any additional future assets.
3. T-Wolves send Clyde Drexler, Chuck Person, and T-Wolves 12 1st
Ian was the first to reach out and received some serious consideration, mostly because of Clyde. I don't dislike Person as a player, but I much preferred future assets to 27-year-old player locked in at small forward who has some holes in his game. To Ian's credit, he did add in his 12 first, but also demanded 15k bucks. The 15k wasn't a big stickler, but I do have some concerns with Clyde's game, which you can read more about below.
2. Nuggets send 08, 09, 10, 11, 12 1sts and (mostly) expiring salaries
The five firsts were very appealing, especially considering Mike's poor luck. The final offer came pretty late in the game. Ultimately it came down to Fason's willingness to add an additional first, and the fact that I may still be able to scrounge together a team with RJ Cole. Things are still very up in the air, but it might be fun to feature Cole and Withers in an outside focused offense. Considering I don't own my own firsts, an all-in immediate tank of my own isn't totally necessary. If not for the unweighted lotto, I probably would've leaned more towards this offer.
1. Clippers send RJ Cole, Clippers 08 and 09 1sts, Magic 09 1st, and Grizzlies 10 1st
I don't think RJ Cole is the player Ayton is, but this trade allows me to not *completely* throw in the towel (yet) and still pick up four future firsts. None are a sure thing by any means, but I'm hopeful that maybe an outside-focused offense changes my fortunes around a little. If Cole does well and the team works, I pick up four firsts that I might be able to deal. If it doesn't work, I can hopefully deal Cole for some additional firsts later on.
