Introducing to you fine gents our newest GM, Troy Barnes of the Boston Celtics. This guy is a great friend of Logan & I both and I am excited to welcome him to the league.
AndrewLuck: First let me be the first to say welcome to TMBSL! How about you tell us a little bit about yourself.
TroyBarnes: Not entirely sure how much to reveal here. I've been lurking on TMB since about 09 (also under the name Troy Barnes). Bama is my only real sports allegiance, but I do also claim the Braves (unfortunately). In my spare time I mostly binge watch what is probably an unhealthy number TV series. I also like traveling and playing poker.
Luck: What is your all-time favorite sports memory?
Barnes: It's really hard to pick against 2nd and 26, but it's probably the 09 season for me. I was a freshman at Bama, it was our first championship that I was able to witness, and it's been our only undefeated team (for a few more months anyway )
Luck: Any sports moment you wish you could forget?
Barnes: 2013 Iron Bowl. I was in Auburn. It was real bad.
Luck: Who are your all-time favorite athletes?
Barnes:
Jordan is still probably my favorite athlete all time. Others worth mentioning:
NBA: Iverson, LeBron, Kobe
NFL: Randy Moss, Aaron Rodgers
MLB: Maddux, Smoltz, Chipper, Chapman
College: Rolando McClain, Jonathan Allen, Julio, Amari, Eddie Lacey, Arenas
Luck: Any athletes you particularly dislike? If so, who and why?
Barnes: Most of the Warriors lineup, but Durant the most. That's for the obvious reasons. Also Cam Newton, because I'm still salty about 2010.
Luck: If you had to pick just one, tell us which fanbase you absolutely cannot stand and why?
Barnes: The TMB crew is alright, but naturally I gotta go with Auburn. I interact with too many bunker type fans for it to be anyone else
.
Luck: Shifting gears a little ... holiday season is approaching - which holiday do you think is the most overrated?
Barnes: Halloween. Not a costume guy and I'm not much for getting drunk these days either
Luck: On a scale of 1-10, how excited are you for the Game of Thrones upcoming season?
Barnes: 7.5
Luck: Hmm, that's surprisingly low. Question. What kind of bear is best?
Barnes: Black bear. Bears, beets, Battlestar Galactica
Luck: Okay, here's the shot out of the cannon: Oprah, Barbara Walters, your wife. You gotta fuck one, marry one, kill one. Go.
Barnes: Is this a Step Brothers reference? In any event, I'm unmarried, so the question doesn't make sense
Luck: Moving on..
. Here's a quick 3- How did you find out about the league? Have you ever been in a sim league before? What made you finally agree to give this one a shot?
Barnes: I found out about the league whenever Logan joined. I have never been in a sim league before. I agreed to join because you and Logan both told me recently you needed to fill some openings and thought I would be interested. Logan had been telling me about it for years and I figured I had the time so I might as well
Luck: What is your outlook for the Celtics?
Barnes: The immediate future is not great, Bob. But I have high hopes that once I start making the picks I can get it turned around
Luck: Is there any reason you chose Boston over the other open teams?
Barnes: My immediate family are all Celtics fans. Why? I don't know either
.
Luck: Because the Barnes/Clark family supports champions, that's why.
Well there you have it, folks. Boston is open for business. Go make him a deal for Sekou, IMO.
