Let's shorten the max length of contracts to 4-5 years instead 6-7. I feel that would make things more exciting. I would be down with 5 year maxes

I would be down with 5 year maxes Not just maxes but all contracts. 5 years would be the equivalent of the current 7 year bird extension/max. This would also save some GMs from themselves with bad offers that cripples their cap.

I think we should have a groundhog appear once a season to determine if we will have an unweighted lotto or rookie free agency that season

the problem with 1 and 2 is the software has built in maxes that we can't change, and those are based on what the soft cap is Is it possible to set the caps really high so that it make the system calculation irrelevant? Like set the soft cap to like 1 billion and then we self police the cap? one hundred billion dollars . the software's hard limit on the soft cap is $999,999,999 another thing we could do is just not use software for FA at all. it would be very easy to set up a spreadsheet that the commish can enter (c/p) all bids into, push a macro button, and spit out RNGed results taking into account whatever we want it to. it would also be very easy to set up a series of google docs that each team's GM could enter bids in, and it would yell at them if their format was wrong, and then the a master sheet would pull data from them all with another macro button. but unweighted lotto is still #1 imo jmo iyam

I'm fine shifting the weighting... or just using unweighted for the Top 5... or whatever. FA Rookies is just awful, though.

Eric has a future cap macro, he could just add the current year and link it.
As to the latter, correct, there would be a current market value / availability max
How much is Nick King leaving playing into your desire to blow up the entire system? Be honest. This is a real Bankz thing to say.

Standard lotto over unweighted lotto over other kinds of drafts over rookie free agency IMO this is my opinion as well I have been very vocal against full unweighted, so any change we make to that I would vote for even if its setting up tiers or limited unweighted.

I also like the idea of a 5 year max contract, lines up with what the IRL NBA has mostly moved to
