quick note on the voting, i assume since this is an ongoing article you can wait to vote until the end of the season as opposed to 72 hours after this particular post. we're going on an adventure, let's see what happens. preseason. 1. Tony Mitchell PFCompuGM does it again. Mitch is already a very good scorer with respectable d/r numbers and turnovers. None of the ancillary skills are strengths, but when scoring is that strong you just need them to not be weaknesses. . 2. Ray McCallum Jr. PGThe mirror image of T-Mit, the McJr. gets you fries (acceptable rebounds), onion rings (bleals), and a shake (sublime handles), but the burger (scoring) is only run of the mill. Still a great place to be, drop some scoring investment and he's an all around stud. . 3. Cody Zeller CLife imitates art. The greatest screen setter dirty work intangibles hard nosed fundamentalist in Charlotte Hornets II history brought his lunchpail to sim league. Inside? Nothing but buckets. Would have been nice if he brought a few blocks with him too but with those handles and rebounds he's a star in the making even with not great bleals. . 4. Victor Oladipo PGShould be a slightly more efficient scorer going off Outside grade, but that still only puts him slightly above average. The bleals are surprisingly low, but the rebounding is nice. Turnovers should grow towards 2 flat with TC. The last player in class with real star potential. . 5. Anthony Bennett PFEven taking into account the imminent and brutal 3P% regression, Bennett is a plus scorer. The rebounding is a little below par and the defense is a lost cause, but pair the scoring with his excellent handling and Bennett should be gainfully employed for a decade. . 6. Ben McLemore SGWouldn't be the preseason ladder without a tiny sample size star. Has as many blocks as he does turnovers, and/but he turns it over less than once a game. Super elite rebounds for a guard, great efficiency on not much volume. I don't expect any of those to last, but if he only dips a little on all of them he'll still be a plus player. . 7. Giannis Antetokounmpo SFThere's a lot of material to work with here. His handling is elite, then his bleals, boards, and efficiency are all okay. You'd like them to all be great, but you take what you can get. Could legitimately start on a contender even now but if he was your best player you wouldn't be a contender. . 8. Robert Covington SFA defensive juggernaut in 4.0, Covington doesn't live up to the hype on that end, and his turnovers are too high considering how infrequently he shoots, but the outline of a low volume high efficiency guy is there. He's not SG eligible so he has to start to play legit minutes, and he's got a lot of work to get to starter caliber. . 9. Steven Adams CReal solid d/r big, for what that's worth. . 10. Seth Curry PGThe turnovers are too high but they should decline as a PG. Looks like the best Outside prospect in the class, so he's got that going for him. . stats pts/tsa blk/36 stl/36 tov/36 ast:tov reb/36 pts/36 JSH 3SH xp/t mp Player 1.160 0.99 0.88 1.66 0.87 11.37 20.76 87.88 3.12 1.160 1760 Tony Mitchell PF 1.069 0.65 1.87 1.78 5.21 4.30 20.76 84.18 61.82 1.080 2041 Ray McCallum Jr. PG 1.150 0.58 1.16 0.87 1.17 11.18 14.23 81.68 9.32 1.150 1339 Cody Zeller C 1.083 0.19 1.45 2.61 1.44 6.10 28.65 71.70 89.30 1.111 1934 Victor Oladipo PG 1.173 0.12 0.74 1.11 2.11 10.73 18.25 58.72 77.28 1.141 1518 Anthony Bennett PF 1.238 0.58 1.74 0.58 4.00 8.71 12.77 110.63 25.37 1.257 149 Ben McLemore SG 1.041 0.69 1.38 1.04 2.00 7.50 16.50 92.20 43.80 1.077 1747 Giannis Antetokounmpo SF 1.108 0.20 1.41 1.81 0.67 7.24 10.06 73.12 39.88 1.077 985 Robert Covington SF 0.785 2.38 0.40 1.46 1.09 13.76 3.18 41.19 -5.19 0.785 1442 Steven Adams C 1.116 0.21 1.26 3.67 2.54 4.41 10.81 84.57 76.43 1.089 1852 Seth Curry PG 0.667 2.00 2.00 2.00 2.00 4.00 4.00 #DIV/0! #DIV/0! 0.667 18 Alejandro Jordan SG 0.995 0.20 1.19 1.79 0.89 6.96 5.97 79.77 46.23 0.968 923 Alex Abrines SG 0.890 0.26 1.04 1.82 0.57 11.44 6.63 49.94 6.06 0.890 1440 Alex Oriakhi PF 0.961 1.00 1.14 1.14 1.25 9.14 4.43 36.34 54.66 1.033 1310 Andre Roberson SF 0.912 0.00 1.09 2.18 0.33 6.18 6.55 51.11 61.89 0.915 564 Archie Goodwin SG 0.942 0.16 0.49 1.47 0.89 9.33 7.53 39.09 -3.09 0.942 1078 Arsalan Kazemi PF 0.826 0.14 0.71 1.27 1.11 9.88 3.39 48.52 77.48 0.811 1301 Bojan Dubljevic PF 1.077 0.11 1.16 2.01 1.05 3.81 14.72 77.02 83.98 1.116 1598 CJ McCollum SG 0.867 0.14 0.82 2.45 0.50 11.14 10.60 61.99 7.01 0.867 1378 Colton Iverson C 0.932 0.00 1.11 1.66 3.67 5.54 16.06 45.70 45.30 0.963 332 Dennis Schroder PG 1.047 0.36 0.36 2.33 0.46 11.46 10.93 94.27 -3.27 1.047 1085 Grant Jerrett PF 1.040 0.28 1.59 2.24 4.00 4.85 18.00 76.29 84.71 1.054 2007 Isaiah Canaan PG 0.991 0.35 1.40 1.86 1.81 7.81 11.42 71.76 64.24 1.008 1607 Jamaal Franklin SG 0.933 0.20 0.82 2.05 0.90 7.98 8.18 57.72 33.28 0.900 1003 James Ennis SF 0.878 0.99 0.49 7.15 0.41 7.89 22.68 37.93 18.07 0.878 788 Jeff Withey C 0.964 1.59 0.93 1.59 0.75 11.12 8.60 59.84 9.16 0.962 1496 Jerome Moiso C 0.889 0.00 0.55 2.22 0.25 11.63 12.74 73.29 -4.29 0.889 182 Joffrey Lauvergne C 1.032 0.12 0.87 3.11 0.60 9.47 18.06 79.58 81.42 1.058 1532 Kelly Olynyk C 1.042 0.12 1.51 1.74 1.27 5.57 8.36 63.69 72.31 1.059 1643 Kentavious Caldwell-Pope SG 0.651 1.57 0.39 1.18 1.00 11.41 2.36 66.54 24.46 0.672 952 Lucas Nogueria C 1.026 0.00 0.92 2.77 1.00 9.23 10.15 -2.74 93.74 1.026 59 Luis Person PF 0.972 0.20 0.59 1.76 0.89 13.30 8.80 64.55 -8.55 0.972 975 Marko Todorovic C 0.931 0.49 0.61 3.05 0.88 11.47 9.40 11.93 44.07 0.943 1711 Mason Plumlee C 0.901 0.00 1.29 1.93 2.67 4.50 10.29 70.95 55.05 0.932 325 Matthew Dellavedova PG 0.973 0.13 1.34 5.24 1.79 4.57 15.85 74.86 51.14 0.976 1501 Michael Carter-Williams PG 0.922 0.12 1.17 5.13 1.82 5.48 12.58 64.49 48.51 0.931 1329 Otto Porter SF 1.350 0.00 0.00 3.27 3.17 4.91 11.45 #DIV/0! #DIV/0! #DIV/0! 59 Pierre Jackson PG 0.938 0.00 0.65 1.31 1.00 5.24 10.47 47.14 98.86 0.994 165 Reggie Bullock SG 1.068 0.13 0.93 1.85 1.00 5.69 8.47 65.28 60.72 1.038 1414 Ricky Ledo SG 0.967 0.14 0.96 2.06 1.73 7.28 10.31 56.98 56.02 0.917 1389 Sergey Karasev SF 1.032 0.12 1.53 1.65 1.50 8.14 12.51 69.63 76.37 1.004 1525 Solomon Hill SF 1.056 0.30 0.75 2.26 1.00 6.63 11.60 64.28 71.72 1.113 1291 Tim Hardaway Jr. SG 1.010 0.15 1.03 1.77 0.92 8.11 7.52 61.79 74.21 1.022 1391 Tony Snell SF 1.042 0.12 1.50 1.97 5.00 5.21 17.25 80.29 65.71 1.056 1773 Trey Burke PG 1.179 0.38 1.50 2.63 3.14 3.00 11.63 38.48 97.52 1.088 499 Walter Harris PG

7,500 - Don't particularly agree with the order but I do enjoy the Rookie Ladder, well done e-man.

How does having a rating over the upgrade cap affect what they do in TC? capped Inside and Jumper are good things because points can be invested elsewhere

In the world where he's scoring 17 ppg on 85 inside as oppose to scoring 17 ppg on 100 inside.

Giannis's volume growth will need to pretty much come entirely from upgrades instead of both upgrades and TC since strength/jumping aren't growth attributes.
Normally a 17 ppg rook can increase his volume with natural inside scoring growth in TC (combined with upgrades), Giannis won't get much volume increase is the point.

i've found that while inside growth can happen and be quite important, the distribution is clustered more around zero than other attributes, so the expectation value of change is pretty low. three point growth is much more reliable, and he's got plenty of room there to grow with B outside and 100 jump shot

In what world would having 85 inside be better than 100 inside? If that 15 went to strength or jumping (non growers), you could argue he'd be in a better player long term as the lost inside ratings could be made up with reasonable TC's.

I mean his situation is that he's scoring 17 ppg with 100 inside/jumper and having already used 23 points in strength upgrades and after a +15 jumping camp. His best hope is natural growth in 3s to up his volume, otherwise his scoring development probably looks similar to Trendon Watford, which isn't to say its bad, just that it'll be hard to get to 30 ppg tier volume.
But its sim 1 and i'm just overreacting prolly.

sorry for the delay folks. we didn't have player pages for awhile so my hands were tied, like when i gave 4.0 andrew wiggins 5 will to win in the software because of his terrible profile day 50. 1. Ray McCallum Jr. PG - LR #2Pretty soon they're gonna be calling his dad Ray McCallum Jr.'s Dad. This guy is a stud. Very good scoring efficiency, elite jump shot, sublime handles, good bleals, fine rebounds. With Zion and DerMarr on the team the volume isn't phantasmal. Easily the best player in the draft. Congrats yawn. . 2. Tony Mitchell PF - LR #1Spurs Family Robinson (no relation) saw his efficiency dip after preseason, but it's still solid and he also cut his turnovers in thirds and pumped his boards and blocks. It's hard to imagine anyone competing with Junior McCallum and it's not hard to imagine those below catching him, but it's impossible to imagine him ending up worse than an elite backup. With some savvy investment he could easily be the #1 player on a championship team. . 3. Shabazz Muhammad SF - LR unrankedAfter skipping preseason to have his own personal preseason raised some red flags in the character department, Muhammad has showcased legit scoring chops. Leading a tanking team in scoring volume with only 25 per game isn't the best sign, but at least it's not 20 and the efficiency is there. He doesn't bring a lot more to the table but neither does he take anything off, so even with flat TCs he should be a solid starter for a decade and with some home run TCs could become a star. . 4. Giannis Antetokounmpo SF - LR #7Giannis got bumps across the board from preseason, unfortunately that includes turnovers which while still manageable have still ballooned. I have him behind Shabazz simply because he can't play SG. Their various strengths and weaknesses pretty much cancel out otherwise. . 5. Victor Oladipo PG - LR #4Oladipo's defense and turnovers continue to be disappointing. The spread sheet reckons he has 82 Three Point Shot already which slightly limits his ceiling as a scorer, since it tends to grow well for perimeter players and you can't get past 100. His GM whoever that could be is in a difficult spot because if his future's at point you want to sew up the handles (especially once the passing starts to grow), but if it's at shooting guard you want to sew up the d/r, and he's too far off to do both barring miraculous TCs. If nothing else he should end up a solid backup 1-2. . 6. Isaiah Canaan PG - LR unrankedThere's a big gap here right now. Judging from preseason too Canaan is probably average across the board. Which is fine! He'll get paid for a long time being a league average player. The dilemma for his GM is whether that's worth pumping points into, because if he bombs his TCs it might not be worth it especially on a team stacked with young players. . 7. Anthony Bennett PF - LR #5Bennett is still a very good scorer, and his d/r still makes him unplayable as a starter on a good team. The d especially is clearly unsalvageable at this point, but some solid rebounding camps should at least make him a decent backup. The +50 to Three Point Shooting is a huge wild card, he could become such an unstoppable scorer that he's worth starting, or he could still be a net negative but such a lure that an unwitting GM maxes him anyway. . 8. Robert Covington SF - LR #8A poor man's Herb Jones, plus he can't play SG so wing backup is off the table. Unlike Herb he can score a little, so maybe investing in that will make him worthwhile. . 9. Rudy Gobert C - LR unrankedWe've got three d/r bigs in the class. This update I went with Gobert over Adams and Noel because his volume is high enough that he might become an okay scorer someday. We're not talking Firsto Picko or anything, but a 4.0 Kobe Maggette style 15 points per game on fair to middling percentages is plausible. To be clear I don't think the pure d/r big or that kind of player is in huge demand in 5.0, but the latter seems more useful to me. . 10. Jerome Moiso C - LR unrankedMoiso is behind those guys especially when it comes to rebounds, and his current plus efficiency probably won't last judging by preseason, but he's even closer to being a real scorer than they are. Cody Zeller and his 100 Handling probably take this spot back next update anyway. . stats pts/tsa blk/36 stl/36 tov/36 ast:tov reb/36 pts/36 JSH 3SH xp/t mp Player 1.107 0.56 1.77 1.68 5.44 4.94 25.74 93.80 52.20 1.132 1158 Ray McCallum Jr. PG 1.111 1.35 0.37 0.61 1.00 12.24 16.41 81.40 9.60 1.111 323 Tony Mitchell PF 1.155 0.64 0.75 1.38 1.46 6.92 25.78 75.56 37.44 1.154 1217 Shabazz Muhammad SF 1.132 1.09 1.09 1.82 1.40 7.66 23.84 94.05 41.95 1.102 1036 Giannis Antetokounmpo SF 1.106 0.12 1.19 2.02 2.12 5.35 20.55 78.62 82.38 1.132 1091 Victor Oladipo PG 1.080 0.31 1.73 2.75 3.26 4.47 17.59 88.74 72.26 1.102 1239 Isaiah Canaan PG 1.165 0.25 0.25 1.48 1.50 10.85 19.48 78.43 57.57 1.141 511 Anthony Bennett PF 1.187 0.59 1.58 0.99 1.40 8.90 8.70 88.74 24.26 1.135 637 Robert Covington SF 0.941 2.50 0.56 1.53 2.00 14.46 9.45 15.12 20.88 0.941 881 Rudy Gobert C 1.109 1.80 1.26 1.44 0.63 11.52 10.08 37.15 31.85 1.109 680 Jerome Moiso C 0.862 0.56 1.69 5.06 1.78 3.38 15.75 #DIV/0! #DIV/0! #DIV/0! 102 Alejandro Jordan SG 0.797 0.53 0.93 2.65 0.90 11.65 6.09 28.71 40.29 0.843 952 Alex Len C 0.936 0.33 0.98 2.29 0.43 6.22 9.16 85.03 50.97 0.903 429 Ben McLemore SG 0.980 0.00 0.49 2.47 0.60 5.42 16.27 94.76 66.24 0.972 234 CJ McCollum SG 1.078 0.54 1.45 0.54 1.33 10.67 13.21 91.04 -0.04 1.078 736 Cody Zeller C 1.002 0.17 0.83 1.50 0.78 10.17 10.17 57.72 11.28 1.002 691 Colton Iverson C 0.968 0.28 1.42 1.98 3.29 5.39 16.44 67.34 23.66 0.991 406 Dennis Schroder PG 0.845 0.00 0.65 0.97 1.17 5.03 6.81 61.79 29.21 0.861 200 Deshaun Thomas SF 0.748 0.69 0.69 2.52 0.82 8.71 2.75 110.63 -41.63 0.748 141 Etan Hepp C 1.097 0.00 0.68 1.35 0.88 11.83 9.63 88.99 2.01 1.097 767 Grant Jerrett PF 1.118 0.24 0.73 1.96 1.88 7.59 12.24 52.91 83.09 1.017 426 Jamaal Franklin SG 0.863 1.95 0.78 2.60 0.40 11.96 13.13 33.54 22.46 0.863 997 Jeff Withey C 0.796 0.56 0.56 2.25 1.00 14.63 9.00 78.89 -9.89 0.796 122 Joffrey Lauvergne C 0.857 0.00 0.00 2.25 0.00 11.25 13.50 #DIV/0! #DIV/0! 0.857 16 Kelly Olynyk C 1.041 0.35 1.60 1.77 1.10 5.85 11.00 60.13 75.87 0.973 751 Kentavious Caldwell-Pope SG 0.714 0.00 0.00 0.80 2.00 12.80 9.60 51.11 39.89 0.714 63 Luis Person PF 0.965 0.00 0.33 1.00 1.67 10.33 7.00 57.72 -1.72 0.965 162 Marko Todorovic C 0.916 0.33 1.17 3.00 1.00 11.83 11.17 6.93 49.07 0.955 475 Mason Plumlee C 0.933 0.16 0.82 6.58 1.48 5.10 16.44 62.21 63.79 0.971 767 Michael Carter-Williams PG 0.859 0.29 0.72 1.45 1.10 13.16 4.48 52.16 3.84 0.859 847 Mike Muscala C 0.862 2.13 1.30 1.30 0.82 12.91 4.14 48.10 -2.10 0.862 1246 Nerlens Noel C 0.937 0.17 1.02 3.74 1.05 6.96 13.75 64.90 48.10 0.879 721 Otto Porter SF 1.119 0.00 1.83 3.36 3.27 4.58 22.27 84.89 51.11 1.173 413 Peyton Siva PG 1.114 0.18 1.60 1.77 0.80 6.56 11.00 53.49 92.51 1.021 467 Reggie Bullock SG 0.916 0.00 0.64 4.50 1.71 6.75 13.18 81.24 79.76 1.094 280 Seth Curry PG 0.532 0.00 9.00 9.00 0.00 9.00 9.00 31.27 114.73 1.160 4 Solomon Hill SF 0.982 2.39 0.80 1.59 1.10 14.50 4.46 17.47 18.53 0.982 723 Steven Adams C 0.953 0.14 0.97 2.36 0.76 8.20 10.70 60.51 75.49 0.973 829 Tim Hardaway Jr. SG 1.030 0.21 1.92 1.92 5.44 5.54 14.06 73.29 72.71 1.068 575 Trey Burke PG 0.921 0.29 1.71 2.57 3.22 2.57 9.71 78.89 57.11 0.924 441 Walter Harris PG

day 70 update. 1. Ray McCallum Jr. PG - LR #1Efficiency is down a little, as expected from preseason numbers, but he's still the total package. Lex Luger doesn't have anything on this fella. . 2. Tony Mitchell PF - LR #2Took a knee knock and didn't get any more PT, nobody below him made a move though so here he is . 3. Shabazz Muhammad SF - LR #3Shabazz also tread water, but the more minutes he puts up with very good efficiency the happier the Warriors have to be. . 4. Giannis Antetokounmpo SF - LR #4Closed the gap with Shabazz considerably with a small bump to d/r and a much more interesting drop in turnovers, but isn't quite there yet. . 5. Victor Oladipo PG - LR #5Oladipo also improved (slightly) across the board, but he's still pretty easily behind Giannis. . 6. Cody Zeller C - LR unrankedJust can't get over those handles. 0.6 turnovers per 36 is eye popping in any case, but especially when he's giving you 14 points. He'll never be a defensive stalwart but his blocks are high enough to naturally grow to the 1.5 range, which is plenty if he can keep this scoring up. You're also hoping for some solid rebounding TCs to put him in the 12 range, at which point you could invest everything in his scoring and have at worst an elite backup big. Even if he JBCs it he'll still be a solid contributor off the bench. . 7. Jerome Moiso C - LR #10Stats actually dropped a little across the board but the extra regular season minutes make me more confident in his scoring, and if he can maintain average efficiency on top of his solid d/r package there's real player potential here. . 8. Isaiah Canaan PG - LR #6Unchanged since last update. Still giving you decent scoring and d/r, turnovers are too high but should grow well so long as he didn't peak in high school. . 9. Robert Covington SF - LR #8Efficiency dipped, but not calamitously so. The poor man's Herb build is still there. . 10. Anthony Bennett PF - LR #7Like Cody Zeller with even less defense. The only thing keeping him in my mind is the possibility of +50 three point shooting, and even then he's more a curiosity than a legit player.
