1. Charlotte Hornets -
Giannis Antetokounmpo SF 6'11'' 200 19 C+ B- C C C+ A
I don't think Giannis is the best prospect in this draft but I think this is the pick that gets made because Fecta wants to win the press conference and so he goes with the name brand.
2. Denver Nuggets -
Victor Oladipo CG 6'4" 200 21 C+ B+ B- A- C A
Mike already has a stew going at the wing with Luka and MJ having apparent breakout seasons and he also already has the well-paid Grayson Allen backing them up. I would expect that he go for someone to help fill the void at PG or a big. Seeing as most of the bigs in this draft are modern centers that don't put carry the scoring load but can effectively finish pick and rolls and help defend and rebound at a high level, Mike tries to find a future franchise PG. He looks to Dipo for someone he can mold into a PG.
3. Toronto Raptors -
Shabazz Muhammad SF 6'6'' 220 21 A- C+ D C C A
Whoever the hell this GM is now also has a stew going like Mike on the wings. This doesn't stop him from taking the highest upside scorer in the draft. Starting with A- C+ scoring and A potential gives Muhammad the potential to be a potent scoring threat and give the Raptors another solid wing piece to build around.
4. Boston Celtics -
Otto Porter SF 6'8'' 195 20 B C+ C+ C+ C A
Whoever the hell this GM is now looks to add a second perimeter threat to complement Doumbouya and thus adds Otto Porter Jr, the next best wing on the board.
5. Golden State Warriors -
Rudy Gobert C 7'1'' 240 21 B D- C B A- C
Following up on the promising picks of Miles and Richardson from last offseason's draft haul, Taco complements his wing trio of Okobo, Richardson, and Miles by adding a center who can finish inside and provide defense and rebounding in the post. Hopefully you're ready to put some work into to fixing that jumpshot though.
6. Los Angeles Lakers -
Kentavious Caldwell-Pope SG 6'5'' 195 20 C B C B C A
SPL looks to add some upside on the wings and selects KCP as a 3 and D guy with some room to grow.
7. Washington Wizards (from Clippers) -
Ray McCallum Jr. PG 6'1'' 185 22 C+ B B+ B- C- B
To start taking the next step around the core of Jontay, Hedo, and Troy Brown, Heel makes a gamble on a future point guard and selects McCallum, whose strength in handling the ball, solid all-around gradeset, and B potential make him a candidate to be an under the radar star at PG. Canaan is also under consideration but H/T goes with the safer choice.
8. San Antonio Spurs -
Isaiah Canaan PG 6'0'' 185 22 C A- B+ B- C- B
The league-controlled Spurs look to have as much talent and upside added to the roster as possible so they take a chance on a future franchise PG.
9. Seattle SuperSonics -
Nerlens Noel C 6'11'' 205 19 C D C- A- B+ A
With a promising (if turnover prone and poor at rebounding) perimeter trio, Duc looks to pair Stromile Swift with another high upside D/R big to solidify his starting lineup. Nerlens Noel is the pick.
10. Miami Heat -
Steven Adams C 7'0'' 250 20 C D- C- C+ A- C
Yawn makes a big homer pick and takes the Pride of Pittsburgh at #10.
11. Milwaukee Bucks -
CJ McCollum CG 6'3" 190 21 ? ? ? ? ? ?
The Bucks look to find a future potential upgrade to Trevon Duval at the point and at the very least add a perimeter scoring spark to the bench.
12. Cleveland Cavaliers -
Ben McLemore SG 6'5'' 185 20 B- B- C- C C A
The league-controlled Cavs just look to remain as attractive as possible for potential new GMs and thus take an upside wing player in McLemore who could turn into a potent scorer.
13. Detroit Pistons -
Robert Covington SF 6'9'' 225 22 C+ C+ C A- C+ B
Dump searches for Jackie Moon's potential successor on the wing and hopes that Covington's scoring will one day catch up to his likely elite defense and rebounding.
14. Washington Wizards -
Mason Plumlee C 7'0'' 245 23 C+ D+ C B B+ A
Since H/T already made a move to shore up the PG position, he now looks to add some defense and rebounding. He takes Plumlee and his starting B B+ D/R grades and A potential, hoping that his reported strength in inside scoring makes him a low volume, high efficiency defensive anchor.
15. Minnesota Timberwolves -
Solomon Hill SF 6'7'' 225 22 C+ B C B C+ B
Long has the SF position been an Achilles Heel of the Timberwolves organization. GM Ian Boyd takes Hill in the hopes that his higher outside and defense grades makes him the perfect 3 and D wing.
16. Washington Bullets -
Alex Len C 7'1'' 255 20 C C- C+ B- B C
KN88 looks to add a second big to help Shittu patrol the interior and takes a potential starting center that can add defense and rebounding to Shittu shoulder the load on that end of the court.
17. Harlem Globetrotters -
Skylar Diggins PG 5'9" 140 22 ? ? ? ? ? ?
With the trio of Schayes, Delle Donne, and Ingram at the 2, 3, and 4, Ward takes a shot on a PG that will hopefully be able to provide some consistency at that position for him.
18. Sacramento Kings -
Anthony Bennett PF 6'8'' 250 20 B- B C- C B- B
Billy outsmarts everyone and takes Anthony Bennett with the intention of moving him to SF. He's then informed that he can't move Anthony Bennett to SF because he's a listed PF and realizes he is now stuck with a guy who can only really back up Peyton Gragg but he's not good at that because he doesn't block shots. Billy once again realizes he's messed up and vaguely threatens to quit but never does.
19. Indiana Pacers -
Jamaal Franklin SG 6'5'' 190 22 C+ B- B- C+ C+ B
With Dan Cortezzeee approaching the retirement home, Heebs looks to bolster the backup combo guard role he filled coming off the bench.
20. Harlem Globetrotters (from Bulls) -
Mike Muscala C 6'11'' 235 22 C D+ C- C A B
With a PG added to his solid foundational trio already, Ward takes the best available big. Muscala will, at the very least, be able to add elite rebounding and can have a nice 25 point infusion into his shot-blocking to bring the defense.
21. Charlotte Hornets (from Hawks) -
Trey Burke PG 6'1'' 185 21 C B A- C C B
With the Cecil Exum experiment not going as well as maybe originally hoped, Fecta looks to add some young depth at PG and increase his chances of someone emerging as the franchise PG he needs to make the playoffs.
22. Denver Nuggets (from Grizzlies) -
Jeff Withey C 7'0'' 225 23 B- D+ D- B- C+ C
With all the of the perimeter spots seemingly filling up on his roster, Mike goes hunting for some shot-blocking with Jeff Withey.
23. Charlotte Hornets (from Trailblazers) -
Andre Roberson F 6'7" 210 22 ? ? ? ? ? ?
Fecta looks to round out his draft haul by adding a big man, so he takes Andre Roberson with the intention of turning him into a D/R power forward.
24. San Antonio Spurs (from Mavericks) -
Reggie Bullock SG 6'7'' 200 22 C+ A- C C+ C B
The Spurs continue to look for some scoring upside on the wing so they add 3 and D wing Reggie Bullock to the mix.
25. Los Angeles Clippers (from Magic) -
Peyton Siva PG 6'1'' 180 23 C B B C C- B
We're starting to get into the longshots at this point so Fason takes a longshot on a potential Bobby McDermott replacement.
26. Houston Rockets (from Suns) -
Seth Curry CG 6'2" 185 22 ? ? ? ? ? ?
Similarly to Fason, Pete takes a flier on a PG to help back up Brain Winter
27. Chicago Bulls (from Knicks) -
Michael Carter-Williams PG 6'6'' 190 22 C B- B+ C C- C
BACK TO BACK TO BACK. Tim adds a PG to help bolster the emerging alphabet soup he has playing there already.
28. Houston Rockets -
Tim Hardaway Jr. SG 6'6'' 200 21 B- B- C C+ C C
Pete looks to the wings for a potential scorer and adds Hardaway Jr.
29. San Antonio Spurs (from Jazz) - Lucas Nogueria C 7'0'' 220 21 C C C C B C
Shot-blocking has always been one of the most sought-after commodities in sim league so the league rewards the Spurs with a big who has solid rebounding grades and a listed knack for shot-blocking in his scouting profile.
Big Board Top 30 (this is not based on my old spreadsheet formula):
