I like changing post TC signings.
I don't like restricting bids on day 1.
I like cap holds too, but people appear to hate that so whatever

I appreciate the input, going to go with the following: No bids MLE or under on day 1. In the post TC signings thread, players will be bid on via silent auction with the cut off being a pre-posted time. Cap space, MLE, and LLE can be used to trump min bids, multiple back and forth bids can be placed on the same player with the high bid winning at the deadline. Can we vote on this? I hate part 1. I would go so far as to say it's one of the worst ideas since the Holocaust.

i think the rule is dumb and pointless and accomplishes nothing, but those guys aren't signing day 1 so i don't care that much It stops me from having to enter MLE bids on max players, but I appreciate and thank you for your input.

So I can't offer Cracker McCallahan a 1.5m contract day 1?

I don't see the problem here that is trying to be fixed. It's not a problem per se, it's an attempt at mirroring the real life free agent market.

Real life the first bids that sign are often randoms and bird years guys. I think teams should be able to do what they want with bids on bird years guys on the 1st day.

IRL Bird year guys also have cap holds, which I've proposed and was shot down on in this very thread. If you've not going to bid over $4.5 mil on a bird guy and someone else is, odds are you're going to lose them anyways. If you're going to bid $1.4 mil/year on a guy w/birds and he gets an MLE offer, odds are you're going to lose them anyways. If they don't get an MLE offer then odds are you're going to keep them anyways. The intention of this isn't bottom of the bucket guys, nor is it max guys, those guys will generally always get similar contracts. The intention is the 2nd tier guys who IRL would sign with teams that have space after max guys are scooped up and are worth more than MLE.

I am vehemently opposed to this. You continuing to say that without reasoning is redundant and not really helping sway my opinion.

Yeah just forget this whole thing, I don't care enough to keep going back and forth with opposition, nice to have some spirited discussion though.

Me posting my reasoning would be redundant as well but since I'm going to apparently have to be redundant either way it's more fun for me to flame the thread than paraphrase my well-reasoned argument several times.

Completely forgot to come back and view this thread. 100% understand not entering any MLEs for guys that get max offers, maybe have everyone send 2 PMs, or just separate a single PM's bids by Maxes and everything else.
That gives you a clear list of guys you are exempt from entering any MLE bids for.

If a guy is getting a bunch of max bids and someone sends an MLE, he should save himself the time and effort. (Braces self for replies explaining how a series of events could lead to an elite player signing an MLE on day one)
