After their attempts to acquire Jock Landale were rebuked numerous times, the Knicks turned their attention to another big man in an effort to strengthen their frontcourt for no apparent reason.
The Knicks sent two first round draft picks, two second round draft picks, George Kok, Devon Hall, Pete Holzman, and cash considerations to the Nuggets in exchange for one-time all-star George Mikan.
Led by all-league power forward Firsto Picko, the Knicks had a more-than-worthy sidekick in 35-year-old Stan Haynes, who has started at center for this team since their founding in the year 2000.
Haynes was clearly shaken by the news when interviewed by The TMBSL Post at his locker following this morning's practice.
"It hurts," said Haynes. "It just hurts. You give everything you have to a franchise and this is what you get. 25 points per game, 9.5 rebounds per game, 53% from the field. Those are starter numbers. But I guess you understand there's no loyalty when Eric Hofdolan is your general manager."
Haynes has been snubbed for the all-star team multiple times, but it's clear to see that Mikan is an upgrade. The 30-year-old DePaul graduate is averaging 27.7 points and 12.2 rebounds per game for his career while shooting 53% from the field.
Mikan wasn't in Denver long, only joining the Nuggets last season in a controversial deal that led to the downfall of now-retired general manager Drew S.
"**** Mikan," commented Nuggets general manager Mr. Mike PC. "**** Kok, too. And by the way, we're cutting that Skinner mother****er also."
"The draft picks are worth ****ing ****," continued PC, doing everything he could to ensure he doesn't live up to his name. "But I wasn't going to let that Eric ****er keep them if I didn't have to. **** him. And **** whoever we draft with those picks. We'll cut those ****ers too. Welcome to Denver, mother****ers. Someone go get me some ****ing granola. The Argentinian stuff. Not that **** you eat in America."
PC later went on to say that this team was going to be built around established stars like Rafer Alston and Mateen Cleaves rather than "old-*** mother****ers like George Mikan."
