Hey fam we've been kicking this idea around in shout for awhile and I think it's time to put pen to paper.
Problem: entering DCs on day one (or preseason) is a lot of boring work, and no one else but the commish or someone with commish level access can do it.
Solution: I can definitely build a macro that makes the entering of DCs much easier on the commish.
.
Problem: But now I'm doing a lot of boring work, and if I burn out no one else has the autohotkey expertise to hand it on to.
Solution: I've made a spreadsheet that requires no knowledge of autohotkey and very little knowledge of Excel to create the macro from DCs.
.
Problem: But then we have to wait for me to have time to enter all the DCs and then wait for the commish to have time to do the macro.
Solution: The spreadsheet works just fine on Google docs, and each individual GM can navigate to their area and c/p their DC from the forums just like I would. This also will show GMs if any part of their DC is illegal.
.
Problem: But if a GM can access one area of the sheet, they can access any other area and tamper with DCs.
Solution: Once all (or close enough) DCs are in, I'll make a private copy of the sheet and verify all the DCs to the most recent posts on the website. If GMs are good about getting their DCs right and legal, this will only take me 10 minutes.
.
.
I think this is going to be a real game changer for the league and the commish.
The costs are:
-each GM will have to obey the formatting rules for DCs and enter them two places instead of one.
-I (or whoever else does it in the future) will have to glance through everyone's DC.
The benefits are:
-the commish can spend dramatically less time loading, parsing, and entering DCs.
-illegal DCs will be immediately identified.
For now I'd like people to check out the google doc and play around with it. Thoughts and ideas welcome!
