Obviously I haven't yet ventured into doing anything G-League related. I know there are some that use the G-League and others that don't. I also know that it's a good way of seeing more players and what they're capable of. Right now my thoughts are as follows:
1. I'm not interested in giving G-League to a current GM. I understand that many people here are trustworthy, but having access to a bunch of player builds etc. just doesn't seem fair to me.
2. I'm not sure the time is worth the actual payoff of finding one or two players per season who can actually contribute.
I made this thread for discussion and am open to any ideas.

Just move the players to the main file and get rid of it. NBD.

Just kill it. Let people make callups after fa and move any relevant players to fa in the main file. Nbd.

I'm a fan of G-League but if G-League is the cost of having a smooth sailing 5.0, I'm good with it

I echo Skrouses comments
I like it, but if it goes away to keep things smooth I wouldn't be mad

stashing players is fun
but i agree with others that the cost far outweighs the benefit
and we have preseason DCs now so we can get a good read on scrubs anyway
one alternative not yet mentioned is having a junior commish: someone who isn't a GM could run just G league and get familiar with the software, the time costs, etc. this could make commish transitions easier and we'd have some redundancy with the file.
obviously right now we don't have enough GMs anyway, so i definitely don't think anyone should step down to take this role, but if someone like soup or 20s or whoever was interested they could try it out.

We can't find enough GMs and you're over here trying to recruit commissioners.

It can go. Like eric said, preseason DCs should be enough.

I think they biggest bonus to G league is it keeps second round picks alive and kicking (and massively increases the value of those picks as lottery tickets). A second round pick that doesn't play will in preseason 1 might be cut to make a roster spot the next season and never play again. Juxtaposed to the same player in G league, who will be extended and likely see extended minutes for three full seasons.

I think there's universal agreement that we'd love to keep it, but that the additional work, especially for a new commissioner, is asking a bit too much.
