Mock Draft
San Antonio Spurs:
The Spurs need help at every position with pretty much every position. So it makes this selection simply BPA. This draft isn’t the strongest and I think the Spurs will go with a safe scoring option at the wing which to me is:
1.Mike Miller, SF out of the University of Florida. He has a good inside game and can score from the outside. His only real weakness is turnovers, which can be improved on.
Miami Heat:
The Heat have two great players in Wilson and Zion but need another big and guard help in a really bad way. This to me is another situation where they go BPA which I think is:
2. Marcus Fizer. His write up screams a good scoring big with solid strength and a good array of post moves. His defense looks suspect, but this is 5.0 baby, defense from bigs is just a nice to have.
Charlotte Hornets (definitely not the Bulls)
The Hornets outside of Vince suck and need all the help they can get, they are unlikely to bring back RJ Barrett and will look to bring in his replacement and I think I know just the guy…
3.Darius Miles. Fecta continues with his drafting athletes and hope they dont suck thing.
Golden State Warriors:
The Warriors have a great looking young PG but outside of that are complete trash and can bring in any array of players, unfortunately this draft is shit and they are not that many options for them to improve with. That being said…
4.Kenyon Martin has the athletic traits to potentially develop into an above average big who can score down low, defend and rebound. Taco will just have pump allllllllll the points into his jumper.
Washington Bullets
The Bullets have needs everywhere outside of center so again its close to a BPA available here. I think pairing Shittu with another good big could help the Bullets quite a bit and with that I have them selecting…
5.Chris Mihm. His write makes him seem like a guy who can score, defend and rebound. His only downside is his turnover proneness (which seems like a common theme for this class).
Washington Wizards:
The Wizards continue the theme of having a shitty team and should go BPA. Finding a wing who can score would really help them out and I think they should go with…
6. Hedo Turkoglu. The jumper is there, the quickness is there, he just needs to get stronger to become an elite scorer and that is one of the easier things to fix in sim league.
Denver Nuggets
The Nuggets make their first of two selections in a row and outside of Mikan need help all across the board. Odin isn’t commish anymore, but Mike is left with Odin’s cruel joke of Michael Jordan so he might even address the guard situation. With his first pick he will go with a huge BOOM OR BUST prospect in…
7.Jamal Crawford. He should be able to score right away in the league and would be a dream if he can get moved to PG eventually, but his lack of D, rebounding and strength will make him a huge liability on defense as a SG, still YOLO.
Going with BPA again and taking a bit of a risk here, the Nuggets are going to go non-profile and select..
8.Morris Peterson. He has a good jump shot and he was good in college. Plus the rest of the profile guys suck.
Seattle Supersonics:
In a surprise twist Romeo was pretty decent his first year and Larry Hughes showed a lot of promise, so his wing spots are locked in. His bigs and point guards though...WOOF. I think he has to go safe here and take a big who at the very least will be a good defender and that looks a lot like…
9. Stromile Swift. Crazy athlete, good strength and good instincts will make him a force on defense. He just doesn’t have the offensive polish to warrant going any higher than this.
Los Angeles Lakers
Len Bias looks like a stud and Bridges is a serviceable player so the wing spots are not the biggest need, and a solid PG who can set them up would go a long way to get this team over the hump. You cant put a price on leadership and grit this guy has those in spades…
10. Mateen Cleaves. Good mid-range game, great passer and good strength make him a safe pick here at 10. He wont be a superstar, but expect him to have a long sim career.
Golden State Warriors
The Warriors might as well try and hit on a lotto ticket who could be a great scorer with some luck…
11.Michael Redd. Has a great shooting stroke and was actually really good IRL and maybe Druce cares about that? Who knows.
Cleveland Cavaliers
Coming off the disaster that is Mike Bibby the Cav’s need to hit here and will be looking to make a safe pick. Drafting a big who can defend isn;t sexy but at 12 its not a bad pick, which is why they are going with..
12.Jerome Moiso. He will come in right away and be a good defender, which is something they can benefit from right away.
Toronto Raptors
Breax Cane has a great backcourt and needs help everywhere else. I think a potential two way big could be a nice addition and that would be…
13.Joel Pryzbilla. Polished offensive game with a good frame and good bball IQ that helps him on defense quite a bit. He wont be a superstar, but a good pickup at 13.
Chicago Bulls
The Bulls had to wait a lot longer than they wanted to for their first pick in the draft but will be looking to make a splash here. Timpig likes to think outside the box and go upside, which has me looking at non profile players and selecting…
14.Quentin Richardson out of Tim’s hometown of Chicago. Great shooter who could be good? Who knows.
Miami Heat.
15.Courtney Alexander
