November 2nd, 2014 Tim McMahon Dallas Morning News
Dallas, TX - The American Airlines Arena was full of gratitude and thunderous applause last night, as the Dallas Mavericks honored the newly-retired (and hired, more on that later) Killian Tillie by retiring his #33 jersey and raising it to the rafters in the John Neely Bryan Honor Guard, alighting the banner next to the previously retired #50 of Neon Boudeaux.
Tillie, or “Killie” as he has been affectionately known around the TMBSL, first joined the Mavericks in 2001 as part of a trade with the Indiana Pacers which saw Dan Cortese leave the expansion franchise. Tillie brought high energy and professionalism with him from day 1, and made an all-league team (3rd Team) in his first full season with the club (2002), where he averaged over 25ppg along with 8 boards and 2 stocks. Known as a defensive stalwart and a plus-rebounder, he was the perfect pairing with Cam Reddish for many seasons. He ended up spending 11 of his 15 seasons with the Mavs, with short stints in Indiana (to start his career) and in Minnesota and D.C.
In the scant months since retiring, he has been retained in the front office of the Mavericks organization as the Director of College Scouting, which will allow him to remain active in the game and assist long-time GM and friend Delap Throws with crucial personnel decisions moving forward.
The event also brought the following to town: Mark Cuban, Michael Irvin, Chip and Joanna Gaines, former college coach Mark Few, former college teammate Rui Hachimura, and former Maverick teammates Neon Boudeaux, Mountain Dew Camacho, Cecil Exum, Kostas Antetokounmpo, Michael Young, and George Mikan.

Glad Michael Young found the time to make the trip. He's also employed by the Mavericks, he sells popcorn at games... so you know, he's there a lot.
