Julius Thomas 6'5" 256 20 C Portland State
Julius Thomas has been to the NCAA tournament two times, and brings that experience with him to his future TMBSL home. Known for having monster games out of nowhere, Thomas was underutilized, but TMBSL scouts are thrilled for him to blaze a new trail for undersized centers in TMBSL. His otherworldly strength and explosiveness make opponents in the post forget that they can see the top of his head, as he seems to quantum leap through to get to the rim. While his styling can use some touch, and he has never been a good jump-shooter, he has ended up incredibly efficient in the college ranks despite his obvious lack of size.
However, that strength and explosiveness comes at a price, and this time it is sloppy play on the perimeter. Julius' complete inability to stay in front of anyone in space keeps him from playing a position more suited for a man of his stature, which leads us to another deficiency: his inability to block shots. Because of his small size, opponents in the post can just shoot over him without much trouble when close to the basket. By stripping the ball away from those same players when they make the mistake of lowering the ball, he almost makes up for it by generating a good number of steals, almost. He rebounds with a tenacity that you would expect from a 6'5" center, which leads to about average numbers when compared to other bigs in this class.
