but how would a 2 birds requirement change that, it would still be their 2nd FA right? i'm not clear on what you're going for It makes MVTO apply exclusively to Rookie FA deals. Has to either be a 1st year rookie, or a 2nd year rookie that was already given an MTVO or was a guy originally signed to a two year rookie fa deal. I don't like the idea of getting to extend a player that was signed as a 2nd yr player in FA. It doesn't really accomplish anything but allowing someone to keep a player for 1 extra season ohhh okay i get it now i think the biggest stumbling block is it would be really annoying to track, like right now all i need to do after resignings is see if a player is a third year player, if so and they were on a human team last year there's a MVTO available, done. if i have to go back and check what deals every one of those players was on in their first AND second years it's going to be a huge headache and frankly the MVTO system just won't happen, because neither i nor anyone else is going to put that much effort into it can we agree that it's probably going to be pretty rare that a player signs a one year deal with another team in their second year AND that other team even cares enough to use their MVTO on them, implement the system without that restriction, and if it becomes a problem we can either delete the system or investigate the long shot possibilities of 1) someone willing to tabulate every third year rookie's contract history or 2) another approach that gets to pretty much the same result?

Just base it on birds, all players with 1 yr of experience would be eligible, and then only 2nd year players with 2 bird years would be eligible. Guess birds are hard to track?

I don't care tho if everyone else is for the two 1 year options. Why was Druce against it?

Guess birds are hard to track? birds are easy to track but this is not quite what you were getting in the last post. i'm not trying to be picky here, i just want it to be clear what means lead to what ends so you can get what you want a team has birds on a second year player if they sign them back in free agency, or accept their traditional resigning, or even do the traditional extension for one year, or had another team do an extension and got the player by trade if all of those scenarios are okay by you, then birds are fine. if you do want it strictly restricted to deals signed in rookie FA, birds just won't cut it and again i feel like we're getting hung up on trying to prevent what will likely be an extremely rare scenario, so if you're ready to move on i am too :D
