A professional at a young age, Diakite is a lunch-pail type who will add instant defensive credibility to any team he joins. A lock-down on the post or the perimeter, Diakite has shown the ability to guard the best of the best in college basketball for the past 4 years. He generates defensive stats at a decent rate, but his value is not fully reflected in the box score. Not an offensive engine, but not a negative on that end either... he shoots well in the paint, has a halfway-decent 3pt shot that he will take (sparingly) when necessary... not a TO machine... but he isn't anything special on that end of the floor. Most scouts agree that his ceiling is low, but that his floor is high.
