Donovan Mitchell SG 6'3" 214 20 Louisville
Undersized for a 2 guard, Mitchell has to make up for his height through blazing speed, a tight handle, and an incredible +7" wingspan. He is incredibly explosive as a leaper in transition or from a stand still. He has long strides and is shifty and does an excellent job of powerfully changing speeds on his way to the basket. He can cover a lot of ground and with his length and he finish over the top of defenders and mix in creative finishes at the basket. Add-in that he is an average (with good room for growth) 3pt shooter and a + FT shooter, he has the offensive abilities to be a lead scorer for a team in TMBSL in the future. He averaged fewer than 2 TO/36 at Louisville this past season while playing more as a lead guard, so that number should plummet even further at the next level if he playing full-time at the 2. Mitchell has outstanding physical tools to be a lockdown defender, with his elite length, strong frame and quick feet. He is also a highly competitive guy who is willing to pressure full court, dive to the floor for loose balls, and consistently make things difficult for opposing players. Mitchell has terrific instincts off the ball, as shown by his 2.6 steals per-40 at Louisville. He needs to improve his finishing directly at the rim, which can be inconsistent. He is a below-average rebounder for a SG, which will need to be mitigated by better rebounders around him at the next level.
