Jayson Tatum SF 6'8" 205 19 Duke
Despite the fact that he missed the first eight games of the season with a foot injury, Tatum developed into an absolute superstar by the end of the season for the Blue Devils, averaging 16.8 points, 7.3 boards, and 2.3 assists per game. His scoring was paced by a mixed arsenal of jumpers from mid-range out to the corner 3, a solid + FT stroke, and high-end athleticism that allows him to get out in transition quickly and finish above the rim. He is a versatile offensive player that allows him to score in almost any offensive capacity, from being a very small-ball 4 to playing SG next to bigger players, Tatum is polished on offense. He can hold his own rebounding the ball, even at his lower-weight. His frame is built to add strength and weight without sacrificing his athletic qualities. At times, he seems to just go through the motions defensively and didn’t demonstrate the competitive desire to lock his man down. His technique on the perimeter can improve, as his closeouts can be quite lazy, allowing for his man to get by him with little resistance. he is an excellent small-ball four on offense, but the same cannot be said about his defensive impact from this position. He is not physical enough to handle bigger players down low, and he needs to add some strength to his lower half.
