Bryant Reeves C 7'0" 292 22 Oklahoma State
Reeves is a fairly unique player coming out of a school not known for producing big-time basketball talent, so he'll move from the biggest fish in a small pond to almost the biggest fish in a large sea. He's a big dude, even in a draft with some fairly large players, and that really shows in his post work. He is as strong as an oak down-low and can't be moved off his block. This makes him a fascinating offensive presence, as he takes almost all of his shots around the rim and converts at a high rate, despite a fairly low number of dunks. The tale is the same on the defensive side of the ball, where opponents simply can't back him down. He'll struggle against quicker post players, but no one in the league will overpower him to get to the rim. Once you pull him out of the paint, you can see the faults in his game: shooting from anywhere is a non-starter, including the 3pt line (HA!) and the free throw line (not great, Bob!) His turnovers have increased each year in college, along with his usage... so be prepared to take some of the good with some of the bad. One thing to watch, despite increased playing time, his rebounding numbers have actually slipped year-over-year for the past 3 seasons. Could this be due to his increased offensive workload? Or maybe he just isn't a natural boardman?
