One of my favorite NBA stats is players to record 30+ PER and .300+ WS/48 for a full season. Here's the list:
1964 Wilt Chamberlain 1988 Michael Jordan 1991 Michael Jordan 2009 LeBron James 2013 LeBron James 2016 Stephen Curry
It's pretty common for a player to threaten the mark early in the season and fade down the stretch, for example in 2018 James Harden kept it up through February.
And this year he's doing it again, currently at 32.4 PER and .311 WS/48. He did manage 30+ PER last year but has never hit .300 WS/48.
Giannis Antetokounmpo is also above both benchmarks and also had 30+ PER last year and also has never hit .300 WS/48, but he posted .292 WS/48 last year, so he would seem more likely to pull it off.
It would seem that's about as close as someone can get without getting there, but incredibly we have already seen 29.9 PER AND .299 WS/48 in NBA history where the respective other benchmark was satisfied: Kareem Abdul-Jabbar set the single season WS/48 record of .340 in 1972 but only managed 29.94 PER, and LeBron James coupled a 31.1 PER with .2987 WS/48 in 2010.

Do we have a TMBSL 30/.30 club?

Do we have a TMBSL 30/.30 club? PER only goes back to 2014 but in that time nobody has gotten above Kareem's 28.7 in 2020 the WS/48 record is .380 by Kyrie in 2023, and his PER was 28.4 so that's not bad, Kareem's 2020 WS/48 was .363 so I'd say Kyrie's 2023 is the #1 by this metric

The Mavericks contingent would like to point out that Luka is currently at: 31.3 PER and .283 WS/48
Not shabby.

All-Star Break check-in:
Giannis is still easily over in PER at 32.2 but has dipped to .289 WS/48, and with a commanding lead for the #1 seed it seems likely they'll rest him down the stretch, which will make the Bucks team play worse, which will bring his WS/48 down even if he doesn't play.
Nobody else is above 30 PER and he's by far #1 in WS/48, so I guess what I'm saying is pop those corks Steph Curry!
