Bringing this up again even though I feel like fewer people have been complaining.

I think if we were to make a change it’d make the most sense to implement it five years after - the first year when everyone once again owns their own draft picks.

Also I don’t even know what the wheel is but it’s there to vote for.

I don't wanna just bitch and moan but I definitely want the weighted lotto back.

My argument in shout was basically that I am 100% checked out right now and as close to leaving the league as I've ever been. I believe that is because my team is shit and there's no end in sight. With the weighted lotto, at least there is something to work towards and/or look forward to. With the unweighted lotto, I have to get lucky in the draft, lucky in FA, or put it 3 times as much work plugging and playing different players to find competent players. I just don't have that time.

I understand GMs will say I need to put in more time and I'm not doing enough...I agree with you. Through the first 8-9 seasons, I have made A LOT of moves. I have put in a lot of time. I've gotten multiple lotto picks in like 3-4 drafts and my team is barely better than it was after the creation draft. I've never drafted inside the top 3 despite being in the lotto every season.

Lastly, we are having problems with keeping GMs interested so I think we should make the league "easier" to get better. Good GMs will still be good GMs. Bad GMs will still be bad GMs. Good GMs will get unlucky sometimes. Bad GMs will be lucky sometimes. I just believe making the league more accessible is important.

The unweighted lotto has helped you though. Through your first eight seasons (i.e. not counting the firsts you traded) you've had a total draft slot of 49, lower than the total draft slot of 56.5 we'd expect from your standings. A big contributor to that is you getting a #3 pick as a playoff team in the 2007 draft, and when I look through your rebuild that's where I see it going off the rails - you trade PYT and Darius Miles for Kevin Knox and Ralph busts, your team can't play defense anymore and takes a step back. How does changing the lotto change either those trades or a 1.3 busting? Even if you just happen to take Stip or Scott or any good player there, you're a solid >.500 team and I don't think we're having this conversation.

There have been a lot of theories about keeping GMs interested, for example making a new league was in itself supposed to bring all kinds of people back, or having a way to win that wasn't a star point guard, or having more drama. So far none of those theories has panned out. This one we can already disprove though, since we had plenty of GMs get bored with endless tanking and quit in 4.0 (weighted lotto).

I'm not saying you personally wouldn't be more interested with a weighted lotto, just that I see no evidence you'd be more successful or that GMs in general would be more interested.

I don't think a weighted lottery would do much to change anyone's success rates, but it might make people happier just because it's what they want.

Not referring specifically to Taco here, I think there have been a few GMs who haven’t stated they’re unhappy with the league, but that they’d prefer a weighted lottery to an unweighted one.

I’m not defending Taco at all. And when your Golden State Warriors win the 2009 TMBSL Championship you’ll see why.
