Polls for votes are now a thing of the past, users will comment for up to 72 hours after the article is posted a point value they think the article is worth, the writer will receive the average excluding the high and low values.

Is there a min and max?

This was answered in Shout - no. But since high and low are being removed from the average, it should help keep it even.

Another thought after reading Fecta's article with the new scoring systems. I feel like public voting could lead to grudges and animosity between GMs based on a low article rating. Nothing major but could lead to GMs, as fecta put it, 'shitting' on one another.

There are so many awful things about this and the fecta article showed it.
Polls were used because its fucking easy and simple, you see 8 votes in a category and you're done tracking it and nobody has to bother again when cashing in or w/e
Whose job is it gonna be to tally every single vote/post for articles? tim? article OP? eric? ppl can barely fucking bother to track their own box score rewards.
If you want articles to be worth more than 5k, just add new poll options for them to be worth more than 5k, don't abolish the entire system that's actually good and nobody complained about and replace it with a poorly thought out mess.

Tracking box score rewards takes far more time then adding 8-10 numbers and getting an average. The author should probably do it. If people don't know how to calculate averages (you know who you are), let me know and I'm happy to help out.

Here's my non yelling at clouds compromise proposal:
Keep the 1000-5000 polling options as we currently have for the people that just want the simplicity and ease for that.
Then add in a 6th poll option called "Other", if you vote "Other", you're required to post a manual amount of bucks you think the article is worth for the ppl that want the flexibility of being able to vote 5500 or for the special articles ppl think are worth 10-15k.
Thoughts?

Tracking it would work the same, whatever category gets 8 votes, or after 72 hours if nothing gets over 8, the majority one wins, or we tally the average of the "Other" post votes.

Thoughts? A reasonable compromise and one I don't dislike. I'm all for keeping simplicity while not restricting flexibility.

I really don’t think averaging like 8 numbers is that difficult

Why get rid of polling though? its simple and convenient, you can keep both.
