Chris Silva Obame Correia
PF/C
6'9" 205 lbs
22 years old
University of South Carolina
C+ C C- B B- B
Strengths
- Explosive athlete...one of the quickest bigs in his class and a can jump through the ceiling
- Unstoppable motor on the offensive glass
- Shot blocker extraordinaire, long arms and quick feet allow him to sneak into passing lanes and create steals at a solid rate
- Smooth shooting stroke (75% from FT in his last college season) and has shown the range to make the 3 at an elite level for a big albeit in a small sample size (5 of 13 for his career)
- His elite quickness allows him to guard all three levels on the defense; he shuts down guards by helping on the perimeter with traps, stays in front of drivers, and has the ability to shut down most post players with his athleticism
- While older than many of his peers in the rookie draft, Silva is still a relative newcomer to the game and has shown major additions to his game each year in college...he may have more potential upside than you would expect from your average 22 year old college player
- Good enough at carving out space in the lane and soft hands to bring in the entry passes
- Has flashed the potential to be a very savvy passer out
of the post, but needs to work on giving the ball up quicker when he gets in trouble...still not a willing passer out of double teams
Weaknesses
- Lanky; has enough strength to bully smaller SEC forwards but needs to add TMBSL strength to be able to score in the paint at the next level
- Lack of strength leads to high foul rate and he sees the court less than optimally due to constant foul trouble
- While he is an elite offensive rebounder; he often gets lazy, doesn't block out, and lets his man beat him for defensive rebounds
- His post moves and back to the basket game are raw; he uses his quickness and strength to bully poorly positioned defenders and draw fouls in the college game, but don't expect that to work at the next level
- Loose with the basketball, handle still needs work especially in traffic and in transition
